Hacking Some questions...

I'm planning to get a o3DS that already has CFW installed on it. The version of it is 11.5

I was wondering if I should update it or not. Or is it okai on that version? Will everything still work? (Downloading and playing CIAs)

And if I should update what's the safe way to do it?


Another question! This is a Japanese 3DS. Can I make it region free so I can use US CIAs?

Get the latest luma (replace boot.firm on your sd), then update the official way.
If it has a9lh (boot with select or start, idk now, once in luma config if your version is 7.0.0 or lower, you are on a9lh) you first need to update to b9s and then update the official way.
Cfw makes it region free

a9lh is actually 7.0.5 and below, but besides that, do what Kubas said. As for region change, if you just want to play out-of-region games, CFW bypasses region checks, but if you want it for something else, that may change things.

I'm just looking to play US game CIAs on the console. Nothing else atm. Probably inject some VC games later on

Press and hold Select while the system is turning on to enter the Luma settings, then see what version of Luma you have. If 7.0.5 or below, follow the a9lh to b9s guide post above, if 7.1 or above, just update Luma. Once you do that, just update normally and that's it.

As for playing US-region games, CFW will let you do that just fine and injects too, so no worries, no need to change regions.
