I just recently softmodded my slim ps2 and ive been making iso's of my old import games and patching them with the ESR patcher. Problem is two of my games don't seem to be working

Super Robot Wars Z and Mobile Suit Gundam:One year War -Any tips on how to fix this? I spent alot of money and I'd hate to think that I couldnt play my own games anymore...

not every games are compatible with esr, when esr fail you still have open ps2 loader or swap magic.

on a side note, you don't need the original swap magic disc to load back-ups (non esr), all you need is the elf file.

open ps2 loader is used to load game from usb, hdd, or smb (network).
if you want to load a back-up disc (not esr patched) you simply place a original ps2 disc in the ps2, boot it, go into ulaunch, then launch swapmagic.elf and swap disc.

Just make sure that disc detect is off in ulauch before doing the procedure

some more detail plz
1. search for swap magic 3.8 .elf, swap magic coder .elf or something similar and put it on a usb stick or memcard
2. boot your ps2 in uluanch with a ps2 dvd in the tray
3. execute swapmagic .elf file
4. swap disc and launch game

I'm not posting the swap magic file because there might be some copyright issue with it.

for open ps2 loader, here's the user manual:

It is not stated here but swap magic involve using a swap key/blocking sensors on your console. its not as simple as saying gbatemp. I run most games from usb hard drive now using ps2edsl. you get sometime a little laggin but as long as its playable...

Oh god the swap magic is not working- :/

Can somebody confirm if swap magic is supposed to work with ESR patched discs? I only know that cogswap work with these discs as well as 1:1 copies.

esr patched iso only works with esr, period

Hmm, i got at least 1 ESR patched disc to work in cogswap. Are you sure about that? I'm too lazy to test, would need to switch ps2s for that.

if esr and swap magic doesnt work, you can try OPL or cogswap
OPL itself can be used with USB, internal HDD, or SMB...

Or, for a sure fire way, BUY the game LOL

Why do you think im so desperate to get these games to work? I BOUGHT THEM that's why i have to find some way to make them playable or it will be a giant waste of my money

My fat fliptop ps2 died and it was the only way i got to play my LEGITIMATE games that I PAYED for so please don't automatically assume that I'm just trying to play some iso's I dled from the net. Ive bought alot of import games from playasia over the past few years and the thought of not being able to play some of them anymore just because of the type of ps2 i have is infuriating.

Few things here:

1. Many many games work with ESR. Including out of region patched in my experience about 90% of games work.

2. You need to use good media at slow burning.

3. Swaping is a pain but its 100% compatibility?!

4. Your optical drive will die eventually if you use backups.

5. Best setup is FAT+net adaptor+HDD.

6. Second best setup is SLIM+SMB

7. Be positive it will help you in your life.
