Hacking Softmodding a 2.0J without using Twilight Princess?

As the title says - I have a 2.0J Wii and tried bannerbomb and used every variation only to find out it doesn't work on 2.x.
Trying to find a Japanese Twilight Princess but it freakin' costs a lot and you have to import it.

Is there another method for soft modding a 2.xJ Wii other than using Twilight Princess?
Also, i'm assuming if I did a system update for the 2.0J it would jump straight to 4.3J which if i'm not mistaken isn't hackable yet. Is there a way for me to update to 3.0-4.1J?

Yeah... I figured that's the only way.. which means I really do need to import Japanese games.
I was googling earlier for games that update the system menu to 3.0-4.1 but I'm really failing right now.. Any help? Also, slightly on topic anyone know where to buy these games for cheap?

well, any game with an update should be fine (since the 4.3 update is not on ANY disc... yet)

I know new super mario bros wii has either the 4.1 or 4.2 update on it (and its a great game, one very worth buying)

not sure where u can buy these games for cheap... (maybe Japan, lol, jks jks)

The best prices I found for Japanese games was at Play-asia.

First place i've looked is play asia and their copy of Twilight Princess J costs $72 lol

Still trying to search for lists of games that have updates in them. I'm sure Brawl has a disc update but i'm now trying to search for cheaper japanese games that have a disc update

From what I hear, the J savegame exists since you just have to change some stuff in a U or E savegame around for it to work on Japanese consoles. However, there is no actual NTSC-J release of LEGO Indiana Jones.

Anyway, have you tried running Bannerbomb on your 2.0 console for the heck of it? I don't know how much it's been tested on 2.x, if at all. I don't think it would hurt to give it a shot.

I have menu version 2.x, is this compatible? Not yet.

Yeah, I don't believe that there is a JAP version of LEGO Indiana Jones.

I don't know if this would work or not, but you could try buying a version of the Wii Freeloader, and try running a PAL or NTSC version of Twilight Princess through that. I don't know if that would allow you to run a Twilight Hack save from a different region or not. The Freeloader also does not work on 3.3 or higher, though.

i think the only option you have is to buy a game that has 3.X or 4.X (exept 4.3) on it

so far options are:
-Buy Japanese Twilight Princess and perform Twilight Hack or
-Buy Japnese game with 3.xJ or 4.0-4.2J Disc update and use Banner bomb

In theory might work
-Get Freeloader JAP edition and use Twilight hack or Indiana Pwns or Smash Stack..

lol, I wish I knew someone with a Japanese Wii and borrow a couple of games

just buy the cheapest game you can find with 3.X or 4.X, will be cheaper then zelda (if that's really $70)

just borrows a friends wii with a modchip update it to 3.2 then banner bomb.

i did this a few week ago for my brother in law who came back from japan.

i just remove my drive with modchip, put it in his wiiand plug my SSBB us retail disc and update, i did't mind the semi brick since i know it can install bootmii in boot2 and i can still run banner bomb and region change later

anybody know what update does the japanese resident evil and pokemon battle revolution retail disc?

Looks like I'm not the only one stuck with a Japanese Wii. Only difference is, I'm living in Japan, so no problem finding cheap used Japanese games here!

I accidentally upgraded my friend's virgin 4.1J to 4.3J (yeah, stupid me clicking ?? "YES" through the menus and not reading the Japanese).

I guess I'm SOL for the time being?
