Hacking softmod then play old games (original)

Hi quick question here. Im gonna soft mod my friends wii with the TP hack and i was just wonder he has some original games including mario kart. Will he be able to use the same saves as before after the hack and will he be able to use the original games or does he need to make backups so the games dont update? I will install preloader just like i did on mine. Thanks for the help.

No need to make any backups they'll run just like they did before, but if any updates come up just install starfall or use the preloader hacks. And next time could you do the community a favor and search? Thanks

thanks for the answer When i searched i found that preloader will stop the update on the backups i was just not sure about originals thanks.
