Yea, I never coded even once in my entire life.
Trying to take a chance at coding a Wii homebrew.\

What do I need aside from DevkitPro?

I don't know what to code as of yet, but some ideas might help me lawl.

I am not an coder as well but i think starting with the Wii as Platfrom is not an great idea.
If you really want to learn, make something for PC, maybe with Java and buy Books.
I dont wanna say that the tutorials/guides on internet are shit, but Books are professional made.

and...java is not a bad idea at all for a starting point, you're right there. but hey, you want wii, do your thang!

c++.

Okay, thanks. And gundalf, you're right, I should start with Java first, but meh, like noobwarrior said,
I want to do my thang!

Don't start with Java. If anything, start with a simple language like TI-BASIC (TI graphing calculator) or Python to learn the basics and concepts of programming. If you are a good logical thinker, you can find some C++ tutorials on the internet and pick up the language without prior knowledge. Local libraries might also have books on C++. You can find many good books/tutorials which assume no prior programming knowledge.

You won't be making games or useful homebrews right away. Don't set your goals so high that you will become frustrated and quit programming before you are really into it.
