Will we be able to hack a Switch, and play online with custom firmware and possible Switch roms/dumps without Nintendo caring and banning your account, like we could do on the Wii and Wii U without worry? I havent hacked my Switch for that very reason... at least on playstation consoles you can hack them and run roms and CFW while playing online with no repercussions (unless youre stupid enough to tell someone or blatantly use hacks and cheats) because its hacks have a way of masking/spoofing the CFW to make it LOOK like youre running the official firmware/updates. Dunno why the Switch hackers havent thought up a way to do something similar (or have they and Im just late?)

No this will never happen

Write a letter to Nintendo and ask them, because only they know the real answer to your question. But I believe they will continue to ban users playing online with pirated games forever, or atleast until the online servers are shutdown.

But it is, your title says how long, then your first sentence says "Will we...."

good point lol

yeah I doubt Nintendo would answer that question, if anything that would cause them to beef up security lol. Also you could play Wii and Wii U online with pirated games before they shutdown the servers, 3DS too, sooooooo?

There have been a decade of security advances since those systems. There are a multitude of ways that CFW and pirated games can be detected. The most primary being logs and digital signatures. The pirated games don't have valid signatures, they're patched at the local level so that the Switch will run them but when that info is logged and sent to Nintendo when playing online you can be sure they know immediately. And no company will ignore piracy. At minimum they have to appear to be taking steps to prevent it or they will get no third party software support.

Never. They weren't taking piracy seriously on the Wii and Wii U. They barely even made any attempt to implement anti-piracy checks. They're not going to go back to their old ways.
It will take years (at best) before it gets hacked, and it's likely to require a hardmod. EmuMMC should still be a possibility, like it is on the Switch, and hopefully it will be enough to avoid getting banned, but we won't know until it gets hacked and the bans start rolling in to get some statistics.

If your Switch is RCM exploitable I would just hack it. As long as you're careful to keep your sysMMC clean and block the Nintendo servers on emuMMC, you're not going to get banned. I hacked mine with SX OS as soon as emuMMC was possible and I'm not banned. Nor is anybody else who was careful. Even if you get banned at this point it barely even matters. Online on the Switch is going to die out pretty quickly. The most popular multiplayer game on the Switch is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and with Mario Kart World being a launch title for the Switch 2 (and if it is as good as it looks) that takes away a huge chunk of the player base right there.

I mean, they probably have the faster ssd and sd card to try and prevent or limit the window for the type of glitching that the current modchips rely on. Since I can't imagine the soc will be much different, assuming Nintendo didn't lock Nvidia in their sex dungeon until they learned from their mistakes with the chip from the original switch. I mean obviously there's no chance the current modchips will "just werk" at all on the switch 2.

But with what they are doing with the whole "digital game keys on a physical cart" on certain games sounds more to me like a piracy prevention rather than a phsyical limitation of the switch cartridge size. Given how most physical switch game pcb's barely fill the actual cartridge space and yet can have 32gb capacity. Plus it would force you to update your firmware even if you bought those games pre-owned. So it makes me think that Nintendo musn't have much confidence in their (or Nvidia's) security, even with how locked down the original switch would have been without Nvidia's fuck up.

I just can't wait to see the insides of this thing...

That was 19 and 13 years ago lmao. They have somewhat modernized since.

and yet no one running CFW on a PS3, 4, or Vita playing pirated games online has gotten banned (and if they do its like 5% compared to Nintendos 99%) unless theyre doing something blatantly obvious or stupid like cheating and hacking ingame

That's great. None of those have any bearing on how it works with the Switch. It's been said over and over again that Nintendo did very well with security on the Switch. Its only downfall was/is an Nvidia problem. You can be sure the Switch 2 will have addressed that problem. Only time will tell if there is something else that can be exploited.

I just hope a team releases private servers for online play. I know LAN play exist but it's just not the same.

I'd say if you want to hack the new switch the best solution would be.... buy a day 1 unit on preorder, do not open it or turn it on, & then just wait & bide ya time till someone cracks it, that's the only way, & it's if & when it ever happens? Could be a few months in or it could be a few years away? Who knows.

LOL! Are you like a teenager or something? Because obviously you don't remember how long it took before softmodding became a thing and how before that you had to hard mod a Wii once that figured that out. OF COURSE they were taking piracy seriously on the Wii and Wii U. They issued system update regularly to deal with such things, just like they did on the 3DS. Please don't chime in if you don't know. There are a lot of non-newbies around here.

I do, actually. Twilight Hack was released in 2008, less than 2 years after the Wii was released.

And before you say "that was homebrew, not piracy", it's all the same to Nintendo.

But nice bait.

Pretty much. Just keep your games offline if you gonna pirate. Just pay for the game if you wanna play online. It's so simple! All the "non-banned" (Wii, WiiU, DS etc.) got infected by cheaters. If they ban people for piracy, its one way to get rid of them.

i hate these threads
No need to reply to them, just ignore them please.
