Region.bin is needed only when the emulated nand is a different region than the real nand of your wii.

EDIT: oh and you should probably update your sig also longtom1.

There's no need to patch the regio for the nand. It's simply Eur, USA, Jap or whatever. If SNEEK is loaded there absolutely no association with the normal nand.

you guys are not gonna believe this one.

first i had SNEEK SD running with fw4.1E, HBC running under ios36 (old nand dump), which ofcourse did not display apps in HBC.
Then i made UNEEK, with same nandump, also worked.
I wanted to try fw4.2 virgin, followed the expanation of xflak, could not get that to work (no setting.txt from fw4.2?).

So i tried an onorthodox approach...and it worked YYYEEEEAAAAYYY.

1. I used SNEEK SD, fw4.1E, HBC running with IOS36.
2. Used an USB HDD with FAT32 and placed the usual stuf on it (made a channel for Any Title Deleter DB)
3. Placed all the fw4.2wads from NUSAD in wads on the USB HDD.
3. run SNEEK SD, HBC will see all apps on USB, start MMM.
4. MMM was loaded in IOS36v3094, but could not install newer v3551.
5. In MMM started Wad manager and installed all fw4.2 wads + ATDm.wad (anytitle deleter channel)
6 everything installed without errors, back to main menu, LOAD IOS249, install newer IOS36v3551 (with all patches) was now possible.
7. Then in main menu used MMM's truchabug restorer, chose normal, load all ios from nintendo servers, and it worked!!!
8. Running apps was not possible (had no apps on it).
9 back to HBC, offcourse it now was upside down, so i started hackmii installer (which i have as an app on USB), but it frooze at startup.

I'm gonna fix that later, i first wanted to report this, in case somebody was interrested or thought it would not be psooible this way.
Anyway, i have a working fw4.2 installed with SNEEK SD in a way it would normally work from real nand.
I did not know that was even possible from SD NAND. LOL

edit:
hackmii as an app that starts from HBC does not load, keeps freezing before 1 appears.
Loadmii as an app does load from HBC, but if you choose apps - hackmii installer - boot.dol, hackmii still freezes.

I wil try boot.elf from root now.
edit:
Tried a couple of things which didn't work.
So i used wadcreator to make a hbc.wad from the real nand.
started SNEEK SD and simply installed HBC.wad with YAWM (v23), HBC is finally fixed and now running under ios61.

So now i have a softmodded fw4.2E on SNEEK SD with apps running on USB.

1. Now i'm going to test the Any Title Deleter DB forwarder channel i made to delete the old backup loader channel.
result:
it keeps asking for a config file, which i don't have, searched for reveral downloads, but none of them have a config file included.
lol, stupid as i am, i didn't think of deleting the channel in wii menu right a way, but that worked.

2. test MMM to make IOS236
result: Worked lik a charm, downloaded ios36 from nintendo servers.

3. installed IOS202[57]v5, IOS222[38]v4, IOS223[37-38]v4, IOS224[57]v5, IOS249rev19[57], IOS250[37] and Neogamma R9b30-autoboot[NGRB].wad without problems.

so if not using SNEEK+DI (ie. using SNEEK or UNEEK), is the region.bin still required if emu nand is not the same as real nand?
also, how does one get the diconfig.bin, is it made automatically when loading sneek+di?
thx
shouldn't really need region.bin for sneek or uneek cause it has patches for region free gaming in the source reads what system menu your using and then patches it

diconfig.bin gets created by sneek_di when the di module gets a game count from your game folder I think

the IOS exploits from the HackMii installer don't work on SNEEK.

I heard the DLC installer for GH also fails on SNEEK due it doing sha1 check on the contents when installing and the installer doesn't update the hashes in the TMD or something.

SNEEK is open source, so that second one should be easy enough to fix.

Is that true only for newer revisions of SNEEK? I have run the HackMii installer and installed HBC 1.0.6 successfully multiple times on SNEEK NANDs. I don't remember the highest revision of SNEEK that I did this on, but it definitely worked. I started the HackMii installer from a forwarder channel on the SNEEK NAND. It was very picky about the SD card, but once I found one that worked I did it multiple times.

anyone got any ideas what i have to edit to get the sd card to show up in data management for to copy saves to console?? tried #sneek on efnet but you just get "can't you read no support"

already have a version of sneek_di where the little sd card on the main menu can be accessed and it shows the usual blah blah blah then lots of empty slots for channels/wiiware but it says a sd process has failed when selecting sd card in wii saves section

did you use sd nand or usb nand for that?

i use sd nand, but then apps don't work from sd, so i have to use apps on usb.
but that way hackmii installers won't work.

i tried loadmii to load hackmi from sd and usb, both didn't work.

probably with a savegame manager from usb:/apps ??
First i thought savegames would be in nand dump and would show up in sneek, but all i see are savegames from the real nand.

I'm using sd nand as there's no uneek_di or I'd be using that

you can edit the source and compile yourself and get sd card access for HBC and apps

the easiest way to install the HBC is to install from wad created from your real nand(don't get scam screen all the time)

loadmii works well but not all apps work with it HBC has better compatibility for apps(wiixplorer, yawm, MMM, Atd mod6b, homebrew browser, dopmii, bluedump)

i'm using sneek sd (sd nand) as well, but apps aren't visible in HBC.
that's why is use usb:\apps, that works, only usb loader won't load now.

lol, yeah, he is, but i'm not.
following a guide is 1 thing, but compiling myself is totally different.
I'm completely new with this stuff and allready glad i came this far.

compiling myself is something to save for raining days, i'll stick with the excellent existing guides for now, and add a littlebit of my softmod knowledge.
