Hey guys,
I got a new smash ultimate gamecube controller and wanted to play with it, but then I saw that even when the stick looks to be in the normal position that the cursor goes slightly down which doesn't happen with my 12 year old gc controller. Is there an easy fix? I tested it with smash ultimate, super mario sunshine on wiiu with nintendont.

Hold X, Y and Start in game for a few seconds, should reset the controller.

If it continues to happen, I suggest simply returning that controller and getting a new/used one. personally I haven't bothered with the new smash branded gcn controllers much, as I heard the analog triggers feel a bit weird compared to non smash branded gcn controllers, but im just petty

Yeah I tried it already, also on PC before calibration it showed that the normal position is a bit below the middle. And yeah.the new gc controller are different, in my eyes they feel cheaper, but I think I get used to it.

Yep the pro's already warned people for this.
Nintendo has yet to acknowledge any issues with the controller.

So its just a normal typical problem for this controller? Does it fix itself after time?
It's a problem that affected some gameube controllers in the past, but these new Ultimate controllers have a higher fail than pass rate.
Someone bought 10 controllers and I believe 8/10 were affected with this issue.
It's apparently really difficult to reconstruct an item from a 19 year old blueprint.
In all honesty, the GC controllers have only been getting worse. Brawl one was okay, WiiU one was acceptable and these new ones are just downright garbage.
With each iteration they are using cheaper parts, opt to remove metal plates from the L/R triggers etc.
Not enough people are talking about it and the media isn't covering it so Nintendo doesn't give a fuck.

Oh okay, that's crazy. I didn't hear about it also didn't read it somewhere. So what should I do? Can't give it back, any software solution?

Not that I can think of other than the built in reset per game, you might be able to do something by fiddling with it a bit if you take it apart, but realistically I doubt that will do anything. Maybe it's just the spring that's messed up and you can replace it, but more likely than not it's deeper than that.

Oh okay, might windows software calibration be able to fix it? So that the wrong "middle position" is the middle position digitally aswell?
