Hacking Sky3DS + Gateway 3.1 Ultra=hack for n3ds?

There actually is a limited situation where this could be useful. Someone who has a really old 3DS or 3DSXL, but updated it past 4.5 using a cart. If you updated it past 4.5 but not past 9.2, your system is vulnerable to exploits, but since cart updates don't contain the browser, you might not be able to use the browser exploit. I've seen at least three separate instances of posters who really did have this problem.

Which means you could load a borrowed Sky3DS with OOT and the Gateway hacked save, use it to run Gateway once, and downgrade to 4.5, at which point you can give the Sky3DS back and use a Gateway from then on.

He didn't refer to the NN3DS, his idea was thinking solely about the old 3DS range for people who want to go back down to 4.5 from between 4.5 and 9.2 to use gateways exploit

I did say old 3DS.

You can in fact be in a situation where you have an old 3DS, you can't use Gateway, and doing this lets you permanently use Gateway without keeping the Sky3DS. It's a rare situation, but it's happened to some people.

Nope Error FFFFFFFF in gateway Menu when attempt to restore save when Sky3DS in system loaded to Zelda oot....

Yes. You're SOL. Gateway website clearly states you need to be at or lower than 9.2

I'm going to give it a try. I'll post how to do it if I figure something out.
Using Sky3DS, New 3DS, GW 3.1 and GateWay Card.

I highly doubt it will work. The Sky3DS Writer dumps a 1MB save. The GW save is 200KB.
So, I'm not sure you can directly update it like so.
