Hacking Skin for Acekard 2

Thing is, I'm using YSMenu because I just LOVE my skin

I want to move to Wood R4, but it has kinda crappy themes... I was wondering,
Could someone make a 'clone' or lookalike to this theme, but an Acekard 2 theme (to use with Wood R4)?

I use:
iYSMenu skin


It looks awesome, I'm just so attached to it.
I'd seriously appreciate it if someone could make an Acekard 2 version.

I feel sorry for you if you honestly believe YSMenu skins (and there's not many) are better than Acekard skins, but, each to their own.
I've grabbed quite a few from NDSThemes. GGirl, to name one, creates some pretty nifty themes, IMHO.
 
The layout of Ak2 is just so different from YSMenu, it's a far stretch to get something to look similar to that theme in Ak2 format. The file browser is in the lower screen and does not have adjustable dimensions. There's also no need for alternating row colors because only 4 files are displayed at a time. I imagine you could make a request on the NDSThemes forums for an Ak2 theme inspired by or stylized kind of like that one, but my point is that it's not very port friendly.
I just recently got into making skins on that site myself.

Well, depends on what you mean by better...
YSMenu supports 24bit BMPs... AceKard only supports 16bit, so the images often times look a little gritty when you convert them.
Also, not so much with AKAIO, but WoodR4 at least also renders the images a little bit gritty/blocky.

Those two points combine for some not-so-pretty images.
 
I know you may think Acekard skins are better, but trust me this YSMenu just looks too good on my Black DS Lite.

I'm not saying try to make a copy of it, I'm saying maybe an Apple Mac or iTunes theme might be fine.
Because iYSMenu does have an Apple feel to it...


So no-one's up to the task? Hm... I guess there really isn't many awesome Acekard skin makers

@ bekar: OK Lets get this right - you want a Acekard skin that uses the graphics that's used in the iYSMenu - right ??

Easiest way
- make a copy of an Acekard skin folder & rename the graphics in iYSMenu to the following
YSMenu1.bmp to lower_screen.bmp
YSMenu2.bmp to upeer_screen.bmp

- copy them into your copied acekard folder - you won't have all the 'proper' options in place etc - but at least the 'wallpaper' part is done
- Nice challenge though - Make a Acekard skin (that has 21 graphics) from a YS skin that only has 2
Might just take you up on that tomorrow (I'm in work on Night shift ATM)

EDIT: OK I had a little free time in work - so I cobbled this together

*SIGH* not looking to increase my warn level...so, yep...I admit it I was wrong. Going to my PC now to delete all of those Acekard themes I've downloaded of my trusty R4 running WoodR4 and replace them with the better YSMenu themes. I'll just keep them to use on my Acekard 2i instead.
16bit instead of 24bit, what the heck was I thinking. Oh well, thanks for the tip and sorry I was so stupid in the first place.

Well yeah. It's a pretty slick skin, although it looks better on YSMenu.
But who's complaining? It still looks pretty awesome on Wood.
