Hi guys, i'm looking fo a very program so that my friend can make a movie.

The most important function is just to easily cut and paste scenes because the movie will be short and simple.

Very few special effects needed (maybe just ability to insert text or title),

She is quite technologically incompetent so the program needs to be very user friendly and simple.

Doesn't matter if it's freeware or pay software as long as it's simple to use (besides i can aquire these things...)

Hope you can help

Sony Vegas is pretty easy to use. With about 10 minutes of messing about I'd pretty much learned to do everything I needed to do. Adding video clips/images is pretty much drag and drop. Same with adding transitions between clips.

Plus I think there are a load of tutorials up on Youtube for how to use it.

Lot's of features, though.

Honestly, finding an incredibly simple program that only has the features to insert text onto movie clips would be incredibly difficult.

Accidentally posted before i had finished typing! Law that was a fast reply before i had finished fixing it lol.

thanks for the input, any more suggestions?

Also forgot to note that she's probably using Video from a dvd-cam (the one that records to mini-dvds) so it would help to accept that format (so i don't have to re-encode everything).

I would do the stuff for her but i think the video is meant for me...

Do you know what format that is? I haven't really had any experience in devices like that.

QUOTELaw, does Sony Vegas Pro let you edit .avi and .wmv?

Yeah.

Screenshots of the list of formats you can open

lol windows media player lets you play media files not edit them. Do you mean windows movie maker?

Even so, Windows Movie Maker is just horrible

I used it for one of the first videos I ever made, and it took hours to render a video (with similar settings to those I use in Vegas, and that only takes about 10 minutes).
