The above just goes to show.. essentially, A9LH - newbs, Sighax - Power users and devs..

Just remember, any modding CAN brick your device, so you're not completely safe.

Please control yourself. I'm not offending you, but you're just wrong.
please enlighten me rather than just saying I'm wrong ^_^
and im hoping it will run a payload or something on boot like a9lh. at least that seems to be what everyone is suggesting here.

damn im dying for sighax!
I would guess sighax will probably end up just being used as a a9lh FIRM delivery method and use all the same SD files and cfw etc as normal a9lh (just a guess, but it would make more sense imo to not start splitting things up for no reason and save devs having to maintain 2 different methods)

You won't necessarily need the program. You couuld just copy NAND.bin. That's simpler.
but where are you getting the nand.bin from

and sure there could actually be a program that directly applies sighax to your current nand without ever making a nand dump, but then its always best course of action to take a full nand dump before you do anything and not modify that file, the patched nand should be separate to cover peoples arse if they accidentally choose the wrong base FW or something

You obviously don't know how a hardmod procedure works.

Well, I apologize for my mistakes! I'm getting used to more technical stuff, so you can understand.

They should add extra checks and a NAND backup feature.

that woud make the most sense and i know these devs think ahead most of the time (unlike myself who hotfixes everything lol). as i think we discussed briefly, i have this brick that im hoping sighax is the miracle cure and it actually gets working :)

as long as it can install on 11.2 or less with hardmod, then i am in business to at least install it.

Yup.

yeah too have someone bricked system on hold until sighax is out as they updated to 11.2 o3ds firmware on a n3ds

what exactly is your brick?

it was a botched downgrade, 10.3 frankenfirm but would freeze randomly (especially in system settings and when launching Oot). i hardmodded to preserve the 10.3 nand as it was. couldn't do anything else as it would freeze.

finally soundhax comes out - the system was stable enough to boot and launch it! so score, it was getting to homebrew at least but freezing. launching safesysdowngrader straight from soundhax worked just fine and i managed to downgrade the whole system to 9.2. it was more stable but still freezing (in sys settings and randomly but not as much random). upgraded from there to 11.2 via OTA update. still freezing. down back to 9.2 via hardmod (i backed up each time, so 10.3, 9.2, 11.2 and i have those and they used to work).

now here comes the part that you will say can't be true/isn't true/can't happen or w/e....out of options i went to cakey on freenode for any advice. someone suggested a system format might help. since system settings freezes every time, i can't do it the official way. i have NAND back up (which has been flashed and working 2-3 times already) of 9.2 so what harm could a system format do??? so i used tiny format.

black screen on boot. immediately flashed 9.2 dump back. black screen. booted 1 time, then froze. booted 2nd time after about 10-15 power on/off cycles, but still froze. and to this day it has not booted up again.

*whew* tired of telling that story but tl;dr - frankenfirm, downgraded, tiny format -> broken. i figured if i can install sighax, maybe i can boot a payload that will help me fix this somehow.

You can not do that with 11.3. 11.3 added a NATIVE_FIRM requirement to homemenu, which basically locked out both dsiware and hardmod downgrade.
But I thought this didn't affect 11.3 users because as long that sighax was released, you only had to use a fake signed 11.3 NFirm and by that giving one a way to launch CFW?

I'm confused rn

Have you tried a CTR Transfer? Maybe this could help you(if it boots again xD)

the system no longer boots. no matter which dump i flash - 9.2, 10.3, 11.2 - all black screen on boot. if i could do it all over again, i'd flash down to 2.1.0 and grab the OTP and install a9lh :(

Have you tried a Clean SD or *maybe* a NFIRM downgrade? I put the maybe because idk the effects it would get if you do this on a broken OS

have you tried a new wifi card? a faulty wifi card can cause the system to crash randomly

given the story try a ctrtransfer, and if the system still doesn't work then its probably a hardware fault (although with it not booting I guess a ctrtransfer is off the table though)

iirc people had similar effects when they installed system files from the wrong region, so maybe that could also have been the issue, someone tried to downgrade with the wrong region FW pack

oh well I guess at this point, try another wifi card, if you still get nothing, then there is no harm trying to get into decrypt9 via sighax(if/when its released) and doing a fresh ctrtransfer I guess

its not the wifi card - wifi was never the issue. i can't boot the system to do the ctrtransfer. its not a hardware fault, its a software fault. i've tried everything and consider all possibilities - i'm not trying to come off as rude or mean, but i'm not asking for a solution, i know my options in terms of homebrew and downgrading. i've done at least 9 systems now and been all over the place from gateway to hardmods and everywhere in between :)

whatever tiny format does, it caused this system to no longer boot with my NAND back ups. i'm not saying tiny format is BAD by any means - just that in my case it didn't help and whatever it did caused this machine to fail when booting up. i've used it before on normal working 3ds systems and its worked just fine. this system was a mess to begin with, i'm just trying to clean it up.

i paid virtually nothing for it, so i'm not upset just feels good to solve a problem sometimes

Tiny Format only launches the system command the Format feature uses without deleting everything on your SD card..

Again, as he said, make sure it's not the WiFi card, better to be 100% sure :P

see I had a system that was consistently crashing after 5-15 mins use, the wifi worked fine for those 5-15 minutes so I too was thinking "hmmm software issue probably" but after formatting as ctrtransferring etc it still kept crashing (once it was in decrypt9 it worked fine even if I left it on for hours, so luckily I could do the ctrtransfer without it crashing) but yeah long story short, lots of messing about cleaning the motherboard etc I swapped over the wifi from a old system and it worked fine from then on

and talking about weird faults, another system would not boot, it was always stuck on a black screen, for whatever reason, the digitizer was broke, and simply disconnecting it made the system boot fine.

I know your not asking for a fix, and they may not work, but just sharing my experience's incase they help you
Has any significant news come out?
nope XD, we just got a bit offtopic :P
