Honestly if someone were to make a homebrew of what GTA was supposed to be before it became GTA find a way to make it multiplayer over the internet it wouldn't only be the first multiplayer 3DS Homebrew but it would probably be one of the biggest things around, If I had a 3DS I know i'd be excited for it.
Just think about it 16 players per room 8 cops 8 robbers 10 minutes per round. this would make for a great homebrew game

the thing is, if I was a dev, I would much rather try to get it on the e-shop anyways, and that is that. Have it cross play between Wii U and possibly cross purchase as well.

something like that would take a lot of work, why would you offer it for free?

I haven't been able to tolerate GTA games much since Vice City, but given what I've seen on the PSP (had those) and so on, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Even if they're not the prettiest, do recall that on DS there was that Cop game, and on the GBA Driver among others which had the full 3rd person violence sandbox thing going on and did it pretty well and way far more underpowered hardware. I'd think the 3DS could handle something PSP like within reason and the New3DS with the much faster processor speeds and the goodly larger chunk of memory could handle probably something pretty special. The problem is Rockstar likes to troll Nintendo, so don't count on it. :) I'm still surprised I have GTA Advance for GBA which is like a top camera view setup of GTA3 and works pretty well with a 3D world and sprites for the cars/people and stuff.

I'm afraid the 3DS might have issues pulling off any of those games, remember Snake Eater 3D, better known as Metal Gear Solid 3: 15FPS Edition - Framerate Eater? Yeah. The New 3DS would probably be a better platform for a port like that, but preferably I'd like to see a portable GTA on the PSVita - it seems like no-brainer to me.

The lazy port that pales comparison demand wise to other games like RE:R and Ironfall? Yeah, everyone remembers that.

RE:R runs on Mobile MTFramework, not the home console version of the engine and it's very efficient, nothing like the GTA engine. As for Ironfall, it's coded in assembly specifically for the 3DS, so it's a poor benchmark. Try again.

That last excuse was very poor, the "Big Bang" engine Ironfall runs is a 1:1 demonstration of what the 3DS can do with its hardware. Come up with better excuses.

Sure, a 1:1 demonstration of what happens when everything you code is written in a proprietary manner for one very specific platform, aka not how games are made. Nobody's going to do that for an AAA game running a clusterfuck of multiplat engines for various sections of the game. It's your argument that's nonsense, it's out of touch with how development works. There are good reasons why GTA 4 wasn't on the Wii and they're the same reasons why it's also not on the 3DS.

Foxi4 You know that doesn't negate my point. The OP wasn't particularly about porting as much as it was about building a game from the ground up such as COP the recruit. All your argument for Ironfall tells me is that the 3DS and Wii might be a bit difficult to program for, making accurate ports difficult. Nothing about power or capabilities.
