Oh I remember my friend got one of those when it came out. Pretty awesome stuff.
In my opinion, if you can, try to shoot for a PS One sans the screen. But if you can't, you can't.
I'd pay that amount of money if I couldn't find a better deal anywhere. x:

Yeah pay for it...play a little final fantasy..

Coming from someone who had one, it's worth the combo. PSX games like it or not where more or less goddamn ugly in many cases as various nitwits liked to halfass up some to most textures in a game in various ways. My favorite was the checkerboard effect for I guess lame color dithering you'd see on polygons, plus on the whole without AA and other tricks N64 could do games were jaggy, overly sharp, just looked meh in many cases. The LCD on the thing is just small enough and with a (I think) slightly delayed refresh rate that it caused the games to look loads nicer. Jaggies weren't obvious, shady textures looked shaded right too, and just in general the step down in size really just smoothed up everything. I tried comparing at that time a 29" Wega vs the LCD doing stuff like FF9 and it was starkly different.

Me though, in all fairness, if I had the cash I'd grab a new one as I just can't trust some random wanker online with a fragile LCD and thin little system like that being used to work right(or right for long.)

While that makes sense, there is no way that I am playin $150+ for an unsupported console. For that much money I could buy an Ipod Touch. Anyway, I think I'm gonna buy it, and post my thoughts here when I get it

The PSP just wont feel as awesome as the PS1 + screen. Besides, I dont want another portable console, my mom hid it as a punishment and forgot where it was. Wasted $150...

I WANT TO RELIVE MY CHILDHOOD DAMMIT!

I assure you PS1 games on the move is pretty awesome. Considering the size of the screen i don't think picking that over an old PSP is a particularly wise move but each to their own.

You can play PS1 games on a PS3. And you can watch blu-ray movies. And you can play PS3 games. And you can watch dvd's. And you can even acces your pc via your network at home and watch movies on your PS3 via Vuze which you've downloaded on your pc.
A PS3 is only 230 dollars more. So I would go for a PS3.

yes i agree with Jasper07 PS3 is the way to go if you want to relive all your old PS1 games + it has a lot more you can do with it...where as if you buy a PS1 you will enjoy your games for now then it will probably go in the closet soon enough =/

A PS3 will only play the old PS1 games you actually have working discs for...

The PSN has a woeful selection compared to THE ENTIRE INTERNETZ!
