Gaming Send a DSi in to Nintendo?

I have a broken dsi which doesnt read ANY game cards. I emailed nintendo and they suggest calling and setting up a way to send it in.
Ive used a R4i on it a lot and that may be the reason it broke in the first place? But I dont think so, it worked great and seemed to be a legit card (i read some stuff they they can break the game card slot or whatever)

I have tried the paper trick which doesnt work, i sprayed compressed air in it, still nothing.

If i send it in, can they see I used a r4i on it? If they find out, what do they do?

They can't see what cartridges you put inside before.

Ok wasnt sure because like on the 3ds game activity thing you can delete it but they can still see what you played (from what I read) didnt know if that happened with DSi.

Also how much does it cost them to fix it? it was a preused DSi when I got it 2 yrs ago so obviously no warranty.

It's a lot cheaper to fix them yourself, especially since you're not under warranty. Don't know if this is allowed, but you can get cheap parts from Eachgame or DealExtreme.

Flash carts that run on the DSi and 3DS fake themselves as another game anyways...
