I am installing backups which were originally in .3ds format (verified clean with no-intro), converted to .cia using 3DS Simple CIA Converter (5.0), and installing on a New 3DS XL running the latest system update (11.9?), the latest boot9strap (1.3?), latest Luma (9.1?), latest GodMode9 (1.8.0), and latest FBI (2.6.0).

I have seen online that some games require entries in a 'seeddb.bin' file in order to load and be playable when installed from .cia using FBI (https://github.com/ihaveamac/3DS-rom-tools/wiki/SeedDB-list). However, I tried launching a game on that list after installation without any seeddb modifications (specifically, Minecraft), and it booted just fine.

I just wanted to ask, is the manual import of a seeddb (https://github.com/ihaveamac/3DS-rom-tools/tree/master/seeddb) still required in 2019, or do the tools (above) just do that automatically now? If the import is still required, is it something I can just do after title installation using FBI and the file linked above?

9.6+ digital games (as they come from Nintendo servers, ie not ripped from a gamecard or pre-decrypted at some time before you got the cia file you used to install them) do indeed require a seed to be installed, in order to run

If you used a recent enough version of FBI 2 (and by recent I mean "more than a year ago" is a conservative estimate) AND were online at the time of installation, it would have downloaded the seed directly from the eShop servers, or from the SD card if you had the seed file (16 byte long, individual for the title, seeddb.bin which is a compilation of them isn't supported) in the right place

(The Titles > {name} > Import Seed option in FBI2 just repeats the seed installation from the above 2 sources)

Bumping this one a little bit, but I installed a bunch of titles on my 3DS, but did not have my device connected to the internet at that time. As such, I need to go back and manually import all of the seeds for the games.

I can see how to do this one at a time, but is there a way to do this in batch, either through FBI or GM9?

be careful using the term bump here. it is against to simply bump a thread.

I dont think there is a way to batch dl seeds. but if you got a recent seeddb.bin it should have most seeds if games need them within it.

About importing seed.
  1. [Release] Villain3ds - Basically freeShop but runs on your PC [post #570]
  2. 3ds game stuck on logo loop when opening [post #6]
  3. What am I doing wrong? Cannot build proper CIA (with icon and region) [post #13]

For any future users, there was no way to batch import seeds, but using hydroseed with an up-to-date seeddb.bin, then copying the resulting files to the SD card, allowed me to import seeds manually, and with 300 games it only took about 30 minutes, so it's not too bad
