I was wondering if there a SDHC compatibility list available for the Wii.
I know there is a SDHC Compabitlity list of Homebrew Channel, but I ran into two different SDHC cards that ran fine in the Homebrew Channel but didn't work for WAD Manager.

For the longest time I been using a Kingston 4GB microSDHC card inside a microSD-to-SD adapter; it's been working flawlessly. I just wanted to upgrade the size; hence my reason for purchasing a 8GB SDHC card (not microSDHC). I have two two cards now: PNY 8GB SDHC (Class 4) and a Patriot 8GB SDHC (Class 6), and I ran into the same problems on both > WAD Manager does not recognize it and my forwarders (i.e. USB Loader GX and Emulator channels) don't work. They usually give off a FAT error when the forwarder launches.

Both cards are recognized in Homebrew Channel. And I can even launch USB Loader GX and Emulators (ie SNES9X GX) from the Homebrew Channel. But in USB Loader GX, no covers show and it does not pick up my config file (the covers and config is stored on the SDHC card). In SNES9X GX, it loads but does not load my config file (which is also stored on the SDHC card).

Here is my setup:
8GB SDHC (formatted as FAT32 using the Panasonic SDHC Formatter tool)
Firmware 4.0U
Homebrew Channel 1.0.3
USB Loader GX (Rev 568)

The one thing I don't understand is that my existing 4GB microSDHC is also a SDHC card (but put in an adapter) and it works perfectly...

Yeah, my Transcend 4GB SDHC card works fine but the same card but 8GB in size sometimes freezes up the Wii at bootup and Bootmii NAND backup fails.

Nope, don't need that much space for my Wii...

Planning to put in 6-7 games on that thing?

EDIT: dang with that price range might as well buy a USB Drive, (The 32 gb sdhc Is around 75 to 110 bucks)

I just tried a 8GB microSDHC Kingston Class 4 card into the microSD-to-SD adapter.
The results are variable at first. Sometimes it works and recognized (covers show up in USB Loader GX; Emulator forwarder channels work; WAD Manager even works) but after I restarted my Wii, the same problems occured. It works sometimes, which is not good enough for me. I don't want to run into random problems when I simply want to play a quick game on the Wii system... therefore the conclusion for using a 8GB microSDHC card inside a microSD-to-SD adapter is not working...

I really think the Wii has problems using any card above 4GB. Perhaps an issue with the FAT32 file system...

8gig transcend

hbc = fine
wii vc = fine
usb loaders = fine

bootmii installed
locks up wii on boot once in a while (when bootmii scans sd)
backup nand = fine
boot bootmii = no worky

hi im barry and im new

and i know im repyling on a message thats a year old but this perfectly suits my problem,

i have a kingston 32gb sdhc card class 4 and it works just like the 8gb card described above...
it works with the HBC and the system menu, but it doesn't work for wadmanager (not even 1.7)

-when i use wadmanager i get a ret -1 message when trying to read the card via SD slot.

-when i use wadmanager, put my SDHC in sd-to-usb converter and plug it in the usb at back of the wii, and select use USB 2.0

then it does work!

so im guessing this is an IOS problem.

usbloader gx 917 same problem, doesn't load covers

does anyone know how to get it working ?
would be very much appreciated

thanks in advance and if i find the solution ill post it here

ya sdhc are freakin expensive.... ive got a 16gb that I got for my DS flashcart, and it cost almost as much as my 500gb portable hard drive.
but then a 16gb thumb drive only costs.... what, about 20 bucks?

You could try the newest cIOSX r20 with IOS60, 70 or 80 base!

man! if i could kiss you on the cheek i would! IT WORKED!! finally after so many months..

USBLoader GX works with 32GB kingston now
WAD-Manager 1.7 works if loaded with IOS70 (thats where i installed it)

vielen dank!

Sandisk 16gb class 2 works great with everything
even bootmii

Very good card for wii's
i expect 32gb ones to work the same
