my Wii's front SD slot refuses to read any cards, it'll see that they're there, but won't read them, I've tried a few SD cards right now, all good brands, they all give the "The device inserted in the SD Card Slot can't be used" message, until earlier today the first card I tried (512 MB Sandisk) worked just fine, once I installed cios_fix.wad and took it out of my wii, it stopped working

...the slot is fucked, and I need to send my wii in, don't I

P.S. I put this here because it gets responses that aren't mindless, otherwise, I'd be going to the hardware section

first try formatting one of your Cards to Fat32 or Fat16, then try it again, if it then doesn't work, looks like you'll have to sent it off

Have you tried spraying some electronics cleaner in the sd slot? Here is a link from radio shack.

1) by electronics cleaner...you mean compressed air

2) my wii is still pretty new (got it for christmas)

3) even so, the cover is closed all the time and you don't build up enough dust to make something stop functioning in less than 3 minutes

just a shot in the dark mind you but the application Loadmii works with a USB external HDD ( I use a western digital book 320GIGS its cheap less than 70$ and offers alot more than 4 gigs of space for your brew ive even made a channel version for my wii

i havent needed my SD card for most things! now i understand this wont fix your sd slot but at least it wont leave you without options either

yeah, but I'd need to use SD to install it (as a channel) in the first place, so that's out of the equation, I'm just gonna wait a few weeks (more or less, until I have free time), and go get my wii swapped out at a nintendo repair center

if you already have some method to load burnt discs (chip, launcher, cioscorp)....

you could make a wad manager ISO, and use it to install a loadmii or similar loader channel from USB (the actual channel wad being on the USB), and then if it is a loader that uses usb there you go....but obviously having a broken drive is lame.....next time you should post in hardware too.
