Hacking SD card question

They were originally conceived for use in digital cameras to be able to upload photos to a computer without removing the sd card. I've seen threads on here where someone hacked one to turn their SD card into a HomePass...apparently they run on a micro linux kernel I'm not well-versed on their use, but maybe someone here can help you out.

They are majorly used in wii u hacking and should work with what you want to do
