Like picking your nose, running around the playground, or enjoying Adam Sandler, losing teeth is something you're only supposed to do as a child. If you start losing your teeth as an adult, that could be a serious problem - they're not coming back, after all.

Also, you might be a meth addict, but that's something else entirely.

Still, it seems that scientists have been working tirelessly on a solution - and they've come up with something with real bite.

Bite? Get it? Because teeth? See guys, I've still got it.

Whoda thunk that we'd be using fetal mice to form new teeth? It may sound a bit disgusting, but at least it's interesting - we're not dealing with a root banal here.

Now, this is still quite a bit away from being anywhere near perfected, and even the research team admits that there's still much more work to be done. Still, it's encouraging to see that they're making progress on this front.

Here's hoping they only find more success in the coming years - I have high hopes for this. As far as quality goes, this would be the molar opposite of dentures.

Something something something Timmy The Tooth something something something Lisa Needs Braces.

Who'd have known mice could share such fresh wisdom with humans?

Brace yourselves. Teeth puns are coming.

On a more related note, looks like the denture-making business is gonna bite the dust....

I've recently had one of my molars taken out. It hurt like a fucken bitch. Imagine having one of those "re-implanted". The growing pains, getting it wrong, suffering again.

NO MORE. Teeth nerves are evil. They should have evolved fixed to the jaw and nerveless. Dammit, God, you had one job!

I do have to wonder... did anyone in the lab make a "Now that's a sweet tooth!" joke?

Damn, I had been trying to take care of my teeth but with the knowledge that when I finally failed in that quest I could end up like jaws from James Bond.
Now these bastard scientists are growing them back but not even providing bonuses like a inbuilt radio or something.

I'm still waiting for the news from, oh, 2005 (?) that said we'd be able to grow new teeth in our mouths, via the use of pulsed sonic vibrations. That sounded a lot more interesting--and less intrusive--than this method, though I imagine the toothless aren't going to complain.

"All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth."

No longer a silly song, but a weird Christmas song that involves children asking for grown teeth.

I'll tell you who wouldn't have thunk. Lacius, that's who.
By definition there is no evidence that anything new should be explored because it doesn't make sense to us right now, thus is incorrect.

Scientists, when they are bored and have extra money, they grow teeth.
This is why I love scientists.

And when they have lots of money they can send you to the Moon. And if they have even more money, they can send you to Mars in a few years. And if we cut our defense budget in half (blasphemy) and they have a TON of money they can double your life expectancy and we'd be mining the Asteroid belt for gold and diamonds.

Thank you, Engert, for continuing to miss the entire point of that discussion. Your dedication to ignorance truly knows no bounds.

    Correct.
Longevity can be abused by meth for example. This means that you'd enjoy meth twice as long as people do now.
