wow, this is the first step towards telepathy! EXCITING TIMES
but I don't want people reading my mind as I think :( wouldn't want anyone to find out I'm a perv deep down or something

Soon we'll start seeing people wearing metal helmets to prevent their brain waves from being read

Potential invasion of privacy, if used the wrong way... but I guess it's a good thing.

If people read my mind...well...that'd suck, what with "The imp of the perverse".

I came in here expecting to finally find out how my thoughts sound like.

Needless to say I was disappointed.

if someone is willing to implant electrodes directly into your brains just for your thoughts, i'm sure they wont have any problems removing any metal helmet you may be sporting.

Imagine you're with a loved one.
They have a few annoying quirks and sometimes frustrate you, but you can forgive those things so you don't say anything.
Now imagine if they always knew whenever you thought badly of something about them.
And then you knew about all the things they disliked about you.

Oh sure, at first you could both strive to fix those things, but it'd be never ending.
Eventually the fact that they have these annoyances would frustrate you.
Constantly nagging at you because you can read their thoughts and they can read yours.

Now extend that to your family.
    Your friends.
    Your neighbors.
    Your co-workers.

On the bright side, at least that world will never come to be since this requires implants of some sort.
    For now anyway.

I expect this tech to thrive under military supervision and heavily weaponized. governments can now "sniff" for relevant thoughts on suspected hostiles. wiretapping, project MK-ULTRA style.
