It seems that its designed to hold the card more securely, reducing the number of card read errors that occur.

If you could, could you toss out some of the pluses and minuses of both? I have the DS-One and from what i've heard, there's only one major difference as a bonus for both. DS-One has the game guide (which i don't even know what that is yet lol) and the Cyclo has faster menu and faster rom load times. Are there any other comparisons i should know?
In-game guide allows you to pause a game while you're playing it to refer to a guide you've stored on the card. Useful for RPGs. Since this feature is also available on slot-2 Supercards, I've messed around with it a bit. The font is horrendous, and it doesn't save your position or wrap words correctly, but it works.

The SCDS has a more customizable/powerful cheat engine, but it's harder to use than the CycloDS's. The SCDS can also patch homebrew to soft-reset, though I understand the latest beta firmware for the CycloDS adds this feature as well. The SCDS has advanced GBA-to-DS linkup capabilities (for example, you can now transfer Pokemon from a GBA *.sav file to Diamond/Pearl) but fails at the DS-to-Wii linkup for the Pokemon games, while the CycloDS Evo has better compatibility for the DS-to-Wii linkup for more games. The SCDS has 5 levels of slow-motion available, but it's an extension of the cheat system so most people don't even know the feature exists, while the CycloDS Evo only offers one level of slow-motion but it's accessible right from the in-game menu. The CycloDS Evo contains built-in support for the EZ-V 3in1 expansion pack, though both devices can easily use its feature through the GBA ExpLoader software.

In essence, the SCDS has slightly more features that are harder to use, while the CycloDS has slightly fewer features but presents them better.

That has to be one of the best plus/minus rundowns i've seen, so thank you so much!

Also, thank you for the description of the guide. i appreciate it greatly!

it seems to be accurate too, I haven't played with a cyclods but love my scone.. It seems about time for them to drop the moonshell interface tho its slow.

It's not necessarily an in-game menu or anything. You can access several in-game features through different button combinations, like RTS and the in-game guide and in-game cheat menu, but there's no specific menu that lets you access all of these at once like there is with the CycloDS Evo.

Yet to be mentioned is the fact that the SCDS1 is spring-loaded, while the CycloDS Evo isn't.
Yes. Thats a plus for the Evolution, no mechanical spring to break.

Plus the SCDS1 fails to be able to run network applications in dslinux, while the Evolution has no problem doing so.

Also my biggest plus for the SCDS1 is also now available in v1.4-beta1 for the Evolution: soft-reset from homebrew apps -> the SCDS1 is now firmly my backup card, since I don't care for the hacked v1.4 moonshell "OS" which is slow, and the so many ROMs where you get to play what patch combo (if any) will allow this ROM to actually run on the SCDS1, as running unpatched on the SCDS1 relies on the battery backed up PSRAM for saving, and that battery will die sooner rather than later -> unpatched mode will no longer work as the saves will go bye-bye.

Thinking about picking up an AK2 if Acekard picks up things on it...

In game guide is useless to me as any guide that I'd be interested in tend to be large, and with no search function -> useless, same go for the rest of the other features that aren't on the Evolution as I don't use them and don't plan to (realtime cheat engine, etc.).

In game menu: No it does NOT have anything like the "Enhanced Menu" of the Evolution. RTS comes up with an ugly black screen w/ YES/NO IIRC, soft-reset just goes straight back to the SCDS1 "OS", realtime cheat engine brings up the ugly black screen with cheat list, ingame guide brings up the associate guide text file on the same ugly black screen, etc.

The SCDS1 has alot of configurable "OS" options since it's based on moonshell though, although for a really useable moonshell you really need to install v1.71 for complete functionality, well if you want DPG playback. The Evolution just make you install v1.71 if you want any kind of media support, like most other flash carts do.

[EDIT]
@Urza
Why'd you resign?
[/EDIT]

Yes, I'm sure you could just replace the files in it with the newer files...but don't mess with the SC DS One files, just the Moonshell files.

I'm trying to get the SuperCard DS One review out for you guys tonight!

i there a way to update the moonshell on supercard os to the latest?
No, only Supercard Team would be able to do this and they can't because the creator of Moonshell, Infantile Paralysier asked them to not use later builds of Moonshell in the Scds1 OS.

Is there any particular reason they were asked not to use the later builds of Moonshell?

SCDS1 wins because it has same feutures as CycloDS(And some more) and it has a better menu

While I agree on the first point, the CycloDS has a much faster and more responsive menu.

Blah, you guys just keep making it harder and harder for me to choose.. ;_;
I was bullet-proof on CycloDS but now I'm not so sure :S

Second'd

I'm seriously thinking of uploading a vid of the scds-1 menu screen and browse some folders and stuff, because I would really love someone to point out this lag issue with the menu.

Do that, I would send a counter-response to prove that lagg exists in the OS (even on a Kingston 1 GB Japan which is one of the fastest microSD's), but I can't due to not having enough time atm.

when i click a folder or press 'a' the folder opens up showing the files before i can blink an eye; what happens on yours when you open a folder ?

I only see lagg when navigating through my roms, not when entering folders.
