Hi,

One of my kids is asking for jios sister's save game of New Super Mario Bros 2.
It has been installed on both consoles as a .cia

How can I transfer it (what would it be called) ?

Many thanks.

New Super Mario Bros. 2

en,fr,de,it,es,nl,pt,ru

000400000007AF00

Assuming you're using the Euro version it should be named 000400000007AF00.sav

In order to teach a man to fish, so he never grows hungry, here's an easy way of finding out. Go to http://3ds.essh.co/. Search for the game you're trying to find. The titleid is what the save will be called. Zidapi was correct, it will be called 000400000007AF00.sav, assuming you're using the EU version. 000400000007AE00.sav for the NA version.

All right, thanks for the tip.
Well I tried copying the savegame from one console to the other but it did not work. I guess they are not running the same version of the game.
So, how can I find out which console is running what (remember they have been installed from CIA files).

And finally, is there a place where people share completed game saves ?

Thanks

What do you mean when you say it didn't work? Did it give you any sort of message (like "save corrupted") or did it just act as if there never was a save at all? That would help identify the problem. Also, it's unlikely you installed two different versions of NSMB2 for your daughters. If there's a patch for NSMB2, it may be possible that one console has it while the other doesn't.

You installed the games as cias right?
If so you will have to use Savedatafiler.
As this is a dev APP I can't link it here but you will find it in the usual places.

Thanks for that. I meant to post that link, but forgot.

The games were installed as CIAs. I have overwritten the existing 000400000007AF00.sav
There is no error message, when launching NSMB2, it just does not have all levels completed, the same number of lives...
Both consoles are running Gateway in GW9.xx
It is possible that I may have installed different versions though (US and Eu or event one with DLCs...).
Maybe one has patches that the other hasn't.

I'm going to google Savedatafiler to see if I find something intersting for my babies...

Any place I can download completed savegames ? This way I could try if I'm doing something wrong.

BTW, they also have the game on the microsd in .3ds but this too does not work.
They also have devmenu so I can run this if necessary.

Thanks

Just downloaded again the devkit & a file named SaveDataFiler_csu-cia_conversion_v1.1
Hopefully I won't have to use them as it does not seem to come with any nfo/tutorial and that would require yet more time searching the internet.

Yeah just rename the CSU to .3ds and run it using Gateway then you can extract and import saves of CIA games via SD card.
Infos on how to use it are written on the upper screen in the APP.

Using Filetrip, GBAtemp's file hosting site, I found a 99% complete save for the US version of NSMB2, but you seem to have the EU one. I tried googling "new super mario bros 2 EU save" but the first couple of pages came up with nothing, and I didn't feel like digging around for it. Sorry.

Don't worry about this. I did the same thing and nothing obvious turned up so this is why I asked here in case someone knew about it. I find it odd that there aren't many people sharing saved games nowadays.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Still a few hours before Santa Claus comes down the chimney...

Well i tried installing the CIA but it did not work so I renamed the csu as indicated.... Now what ? When I launch the app I get 3 tabs (User/Ext and SD).
the first one shows a bunch of files some broken others in black.
Ext shows files in black (ie: 00000098 ...)
The last one shows nothing.

Allright in the user tab are your installed titles there you choose the one with the correct ID(should be the same AS in the save Name) then you Export it with y i think (it's written on the upper screen) the APP will create a folder in the big SD card which you copy over to the SD in the other 3ds (please copy the whole folder structure) then you open the APP in the other 3ds and import it from the SD tab.
Remember to turn the 3ds off before taking the SD card out. Hope you understand what I'm talking about.
