Hello, I looked to see is if anyone has done this or even mention anywhere which I couldn't see much info, so I was in the dark on making something impossible like passing a PS2 save file into the PS2 internal Memory Card or HDD from the USB port back on a PS2 FAT in 2009-2012. Man those were the days.

Transferring NES Saves to SNES (Project Nested)
1. Get HxD Hex Editor

📌 Open both Files in HxD
- **8KB NES Save**: zelda.sav
- Ctrl A, C (the whole file)

- **256KB SNES SRAM**: zelda.srm
—If you haven’t done so, make a quick save in-game from the NES converted SNES to obtain this ‘srm’ file.
The in-game name don’t matter. It’ll be overwritten.

- Ctrl+G 20000, make sure the line is in slot A or the first two zeroes.
- Ctrl+B, NOT V
- SAV file ends 21FE0 (but in terms 21FEF)
- 22000 keep ‘Nested Emulator
- Save as ‘The Legend of Zelda FINAL.srm
- or at least the same title name of your legit game name and save location.

If done successfully, you should be able to see your save game on real hardware along with software base like SNES9X, etc.

Hope you Enjoy!

Rant

-Why?
I had been playing my The Legend of Zelda cartridge on the NES for a while until I wanted to modded with Relocalized JAP to ENG by Tomato and KillerBob patch. (1st time playing I know I know.) I ran into some cool info about the game from this website legendsoflocalization no longer had or moved which is really interesting that I thought I would share with you guys while my search for NES to SNES.

-Reason?
What was the reason to play on a different system? Bc why not? Maybe to break records. Don’t much matter to me. It needed to be done, that’s all to it.

-Problems
So when I discovered Project_Nested, I thought this was really cool to try out! The problem? When I copied my NES game cartridge to Project_Nested with some edits to play, that part played ok on SNES. I transfer my NES .sav to SNES emulator through Delta, it went by like a breeze to obtain the srm file. Except no save file shown on real hardware or snes9x.

-More Problems
The second problem? The save file was a 128KB from a 8KB. In terms of using the 128KB file into a desktop computer or real hardware, it seemed it was impossible since there save states was 256KB not saying it was Delta's fault. The wrong way of converting the save game.

-Solution
So I had to work with the 8KB due to 128kb structure wouldn't work. Loading a real file that's 256KB was trouble some in HxD (HexEdit). I created a brand new save file with the same in-game name from my NES name sav. I tried looking in areas where it would make sense but that never comes out as plan. I probably could have created a new NES sav file but I didn’t. While scrolling through the Hex, I decided to look for the last bit of Decoded text from the NES sav file on the SNES srm file. The code "00 00 00 A5", specifically ‘A5’ which is a symbol I can't exactly copy it, nor what the symbol is called but basically, look for a ton of dots from all the y's. That's when I found the save file along side the “Nested Emulator .<None>.....” I went to DeepSeek to generate the lane of code for the 8kb size where to pin point the starting line save game in HxD. Since the save file is not just 256kb but bc the code is modded by the Project_Nested and bc the normalcy of the save section has been altered, I had to edit DeepSeek at least twice without running in circles to get me the right starting position (wanted to start after the Nested Emulator code) that I couldn't use the beginning of the NES sav decoded text. That code could be a number of things from the game like the items you have on you. Anyhow.. Once I found it, Past Insert the sav hex to srm file, then load the game on real hardware and you have your save game displayed. Transfer Success!!

I hardly doubt there was any modifications to the save file with the Relocalized JAP to ENG since its patch base game and not the save file. No worries there.

The Jap to Eng might not be great according 1 review but I did discover a mistake in Dungeon 9, there is an old man that says “GO TO THE NE T ROOM”. It’s missing an X for NEXT.

End Rant!

All save games should work the same way but not all games are playable. Check Project_Nested Google Docs for playable snes conversions. The project is old and no longer updated for certain games.
As always, please backup your saves for every play sessions. It may reset on you if left on the main start screen or load screen when you turn it off from that spot.
