I have recently found a way to make the Gear VR play VR PC games with Trinus VR (http://trinusvr.com/)
Look on their website for more.

If you want to play Google Cardboard apps with the Gear VR, get package disabler and disable the Oculus Rift store. Select a cardboard app and put your phone in the Gear VR. Voila!
