I remember I got the original, and I loved it. It was different. But I loved wandering around looking for all the little shards. It kept me going back, like there was something else to uncover, and it never got old. It was a lot like Dragon Quest VII now that I think about it--the adventure is episodic, which each new part almost self-sustaining environment, which begins and ends itself with the player's justice.

It's definitely a gorgeous remake. I didn't get to play much, but I really liked what I saw when it was first released--I tried the patch last night, the original, not the updated one, and it seemed to work great. Though after choosing my other party members, the game hanged and had to be restarted--I wasn't sure if it was my patch or something else, so I just restarted and skipped all the text and it worked fine the next time around. give it a try. It's good fun.
