@Aurora Wright
So what's the thing with arm9loaderhax.bin and arm9loaderhax_si.bin? (i know it's no screen init and screen init)

I used latest github versions and don't have an arm9loaderhax_si.bin how do i switch? i only have arm9loaderhax.bin (compiled from safea9lhinstaller) and payload_stage1.bin and payload_stage2.bin (compiled from your armloaderhax fork) (and yes i know i need firm0 etc... but those i have)
Do i need a switch to compile the the _si.bin version?
You just have to rename the existing arm9loaderhax.bin to arm9loaderhax_si.bin. Thats it, its both in one file, and to swith you have to rename the file, and not replace it.

So this new v2 is needed for 'future compatibility' people are saying.
What does that mean exactly? Will there be .bin payloads in the future that will only run on v2?
v2 gives more space for larger payload_stage2.bin. This doesn't affect the arm9loaderhax.bin. But what can be done now is to have a very small CFW installed directly to NAND, which can now allow a A9LH 3ds to run without an SD card. Mostly as a "just in case" measure.

It's just as filename change for the payload you want to use... Name it arm9loaderhax.bin and it will launch it without screen init, add _si and it will screeninit it.
TL;DR Nothing to do with arm9loaderhax installer :)

I have a 2DS with sysNAND 9.2 and Gateway emuNAND 10.7. I use MenuHax to load Homebrew Launcher and I'm quite happy with it, but I'm interested in the A9LH. Will this allow me to install A9LH automatically without following Plailect's guide?

Nope, safeA9LHinstaller is actually used during Plailect guide after you downgrade your console to 2.1

can i use gateway card with updated sysnand mode in luma?
Short answer is "NO". Long answer is "NO...BUT you can actually use Luma3DS payload chain with Gateway A9LH payload thx to @Hayleia. Just keep in mind that while using GW card your SysNAND is NOT PROTECTED so NEVER allow updates in that case !!"

http://prnt.sc/c3bpww stuck on black screen. never boots hourglass9.

also my 3as still blackscreens when booting sysnand with sd inserted. should this have fixed itself or no
Can you get a picture of both the root of your SD as well as the luma/payloads folder of your SD?
It won't boot until you restore a firmware that isn't 2.1 because no CFW currently can boot 2.1 firmware, so it's essentially a temporary softbrick, which is normal when following the guide.
Once you post pictures I can help determine what your problem is. My guess is missing payloads or they aren't named properly. Because if you made it to that step, you got past the part where you are able to hold select to change Luma settings, meaning A9LH is installed successfully.

@Aurora Wright

Can you please update cakebrah submodule in your source for SafeA9LHinstaller? It won't compile under latest ctrulib because of outdated libkhax (which is a part of cakebrah)

Thanks!

Unless you have a particular reason for needing cakebrah as an entrypoint, you can compile it only for a9lh or 2xrsa using
Code:
make a9lh
or
Code:
make 2xrsa

If you follow the Plailect guide, you are using Luma and can hold start while booting (hold it before pushing power) and you will go into Hourglass9. Or hold Select which will show the Luma settings
i am currently lost. last time i followed Plailect guide until Part 5 arm9loaderhax & Cakes. Then i stopped because i couldn't install arm9loaderhax.

The first thing i tried is this thread. i already retrieve my otp.bin and otp0x108.bin
Kindly help.

Plailect guide
Part-3-(arm9loaderhax)
5. Ensure NANDmin.bin and NANDmin.bin.sha are in the /files9/ folder on your SD card

i don't have NANDmin.bin and NANDmin.bin.sha because i didn't follow any of the steps.
