NEW NDS Homebrew

FluBBA has ported SMSAdvance, the Sega Master System EMU, to run from a Slot-1 linker. The port features a few enhancements such as the ability to run ROMs which are zipped. Please see the change log for more information.

• Pretty much everything works perfectly.
• Supports zipped files.
• No scaling needed for most games.
• Can scale to correct aspect for PAL, NTSC & GameGear.
• Savestates.

This is really great! I'm playing my old Sega Master System games on my DSi and they look superb. They're all working absolutely perfectly. Just remember to close the menu on the touchscreen after you load a game because the top screen is frozen and won't start the game until the menu is closed.

I don't feel like trying this right now, but how's it compare to ApprenticeMinus DS?

Also very interesting that it supports zipped files, this is the file emu on DS i've seen that does this.

I was wondering the same thing myself.

Makes me wish Dwedit would finish his port of PocketNES to slot-1 (if he is even still working on it). Cheat search > Rewind.

SMS is one system I never really messed with, so I'll give this a look. I mean if "everything pretty much works perfectly", then it's worth it.

EDIT: Hmm....some of the games I tried don't boot.

After Burner
Alien Syndrome
Altered Beast
Outrun
Rocky
Shadow Dancer
Shinobi
Strider
Thunder Blade

All are (!) games too, most are (UE), but Shadow Dancer is just (E).

Anyone else having issues with those games?


EDIT: After further screwing around, I found that most of those were just bad ROMs. Once I got good ROMs, they worked. Ace of Aces and Shadow Dancer still won't work after trying many versions from many different places though.

Heh, leave it to me to find games that don't work. I seems to have a knack for that.

EDIT2: Just needed a BIOS file for Ace of Aces and Shadow Dancer. Now, all games I tried (44 in total) now work fine.

Could use some hints as to what are good games (not RPG's please) for SMS.
