Android Rooting my Xoom (WiFi) 3.2.1

I am so lost on where to start.

I've been looking at few guides: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278214 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242241 and the directions are terrible.

If somebody could give me some insight, that would be awesome.



Also: I am rooting so I can install ICS.

I feel sorry for you, all of their guides are pretty bad, you should follow the second link you listed. I did a quick google for how to set up ADB & fastboot and found this, although you'll probably have to download the SDK to get the latest tools.

Okay, the only part I'm really confused about in the second guide I posted is this bit:

"2. If your device is locked, now is a good time to unlock it.

Code:

adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
