Nevermind, the box art is working after updating the program

Great!

I have a question. When compressing a rom, it changes from .nds to .rz - will a flash cart (DS-X) be able to read an .rz file or what? And why can't I download any box art? Is there any way to manually add an image?

Thanks for this great application, I will certainly donate after some use!

edit; Where is the Rominator settings stored?

The extension changes from .nds to .rz because it's a compressed file. It's the same as Zipping it -- you compress it, it goes to.zip. Makes sense, yes? A flash card won't read a compressed game. When you flash it, it decompresses and then flashes.

I suggest waiting for v4.1 to compress, as the .rz method has changed a bit. Use the rZip Utility to manage the compressed games (old and new compression).

It's been mentioned maybe 10 times where the settings are stored. Use the search. Also, you need to be specific -- I'm not psychic as to which OS you're using

Ey, thanks for the reply.

Just wondering, can I add my screenshots manually? Because I've got some games that's not in the database yet.

Again, thanks for this great application.

Well, can't do to much about that since:
a) I can't support Leopard yet because...
b) ...It isn't even *out* -- Beta does not count as being released.

Sorry

I totally understand, just a little sad. I was planning on moving all of my storage to a NAS anyways, so it looks like now is a good time to test the Linux client on my other box! Are there any known issues with setting your ROM directory as a Samba share?

Nope, can't add boxart manually -- there would be no way to track which box is for which game. If you have an XXXX game that isn't in the database, and add a box for it, then every XXXX game will have that box. Sure I *could* add in a way for different recognition of the games and allow your own boxart.. but it's not really on the priority list right now.

@Strokemouth:
I've never tested having a rom directory on a share

You'll have to let me know

Hm, okay. You really need to update the database soon enough then

Again, for the 5th time now, database updates are done every SATURDAY EVENING.

Meaning there'll be an update tonight. Patience

I'm working on coding v4.1 as we speak as well so you gotta have some patience

Ah, sweet! I'm terrible sorry for not reading, just discovered Rominator.

Do you need anybody to help you with the database? I will gladly update it almost every day if you like.

No worries. It's not like people want to go through 53 pages of posts

Thanks for the offer; I've actually got someone who I'm going to be training on my Database Utility.

The release is pretty much on track though; I've finished incorporating rZip v2, fixed up the renaming bugs, just have to fix the Refresh bug and it'll be good.

Ah, great then.

Rominator is seriously helping me out with my 1000+ ROMs. I'm so glad I discovered it!

Hello, Rominator has always worked for me until I updated to v3.0, but now it doesn't show any of my Roms...I've posted a screen. Help?

Rominator *tells* you that it resets everything when you upgraded it. I changed the way it handled the games. Seriously, if you've been using it, then you should have been keeping up with either a) this topic, or b) the release notes when you updated.

I noticed you already have the Game location set. Either drag & drop your games onto it, or press the REFRESH button while in the Games list. This has already been iterated many times, I shouldn't have to keep mentioning it.

Why would you complain about it now though? v3.0 was released ages ago. I'm releasing v4.1 tomorrow.

Rominator's been officially updated to Version 4.1. Check out what's new!:

- rZip has been redone and updated to v2. rZip v2 embeds the Rom icon as well as game information right in the rZipped file. This allows for instant recognition of an rZipped game as well as the ability to display the game's Icon. rZip v1 from v4.0 has been deprecated, so you will not be able to use those files. Please use the Rominator rZip Utility to decompress your rZip v1 files.

- Rominator is now Multi-Threaded, meaning that the program will no longer look like it's frozen when you're performing an action, like compressing, transferring, validating, etc. It also gets rid of the annoying flicker in the progress bar (for Windows users)

- An indicator is shown when a game is rZipped now, with an "RZ" behind the rom number column. If there is a trainer for the game as well, the "RZ" indicator will still be shown instead.

- Fixed a renaming bug where if you were to rename an rZipped game by double clicking on it, the extension would disappear.

- Fixed another renaming bug where if you were to rename an rZipped game with the Rename Button, the extension would disappear as well.

- Fixed the refreshing issue, now when pressing the Refresh button it will add in rZip files as well.

- Originally rZip files could not be dropped onto Rominator in Windows. This has been fixed.

Enjoy! Be sure to submit any found bugs using the Suggestion/Bug Report feature

Very nice update. I just used the standalone rzip program to decompress all of the files and re-compressed them using the new version of rzip within rominator.
