There are lots of great games on DOS, but they are underserved in terms of emulation when it comes to the PSP. Part of the reason is the difficulty of transferring keyboard inputs to buttons, but back in 2005 crazyc had come up with a solution to that, by allowing to use batch files that map keys to a specific button.

I think the bigger issue was that the source code was never made available all in one place, so that when the original dev lost interest, the project effectively reached a dead end.

This is why, as a staging point, I set off to recover all the code that was spread between inactive forums and 404'd pages on the Wayback Machine. The code is now publicly available on a GitHub repo: github.c om/pierrelouys/dosbox_psp

Since the code has been untouched for over 12 years, even just getting it to compile was a struggle. But it does compile now, and a binary release is available to all for testing. Right now the objective is just getting it to run as well as it did back in 2008, rather than adding new features or performance improvements. If you'd like to help to revive the project, help is most welcome. Or get the current version if you'd just like to play some Alley Cat on your PSP - it runs pretty well.
