thanks for your reply, so that means for a majority of other cases, using the mame cores A-F, or CPS-I, CPS-II, etc
Yes. In most cases, i stick with RA and/or Hexaeco MAME 2003+ cores A-H if the game is supported because saving and hiscores are supported. Same thing for FBA CPS1, CPS2, NEO etc.., i stick with both RA and/or Hexaeco also.

RA MAME 2000, SDL-MAME-Wii, MAME4Wii are all very good emulators with massive compatibility but none support saving or hiscores.

FBNEO is a specialty core with limited driver/game compatibility (under 100 games) but what it does play are all top notch and many of the greatest arcade games ever released in the arcades. It also supports saving/loading, hiscores and diagnostics all while being very stable. I do wish the compatibility was a little bit better but the old underrated Wii which still impresses me to this day, sometimes meets it's match.

I think many people fail to realize the 2006 Wii fully emulates (at full speed) the entire Neo Geo library up to 2003 and the entire GBA library at full speed up to 2008, something it was never designed to do or any of us thought would ever be possible. It is with out a doubt the greatest emulation console ever, and it is not close.

Actually, you can use the FBNeo core for CPS-1, and especially CPS-2 fighting games.

I used RA 1.7.6 with CPS-1 and 2 cores for a long time, but FBNeo gives a better result, especially at launch and when switching between games.

With FBNeo, black screen never happens with ~ 20MB roms, unlike with the regular CPS-2 core.

The only downside of FBNeo is how it handles the button remap, compared to the regular cores. It's a bit unclear at first, but nothing bad.

And FBNeo can launch patched games.

Hats off to you for the excellent work!
The Wii will load FBNeo? Can't wait to see Cave shooters and Capcom arcade.

I have one request, please add Sega 32X compatibility to Hexaco.
The Sega Pico (32X) core is already included in the Hexaeco mod pack release.

If you load a 32X game and it struggles with low FPS, reload the game again and it should be full speed. I am not positive why this occurs occasionally but the reload trick does work.

I seem to remember that all of them work correctly except for knuckles chaotix, which needs a save file for it to work properly. 32x cd games also work although some need to do something at the beginning of the game

You mentioned the CD 32X games. Maybe you can help me. I was desperate to get Night Trap working. All I would get is this --->

Exception (DSI) occurred!

Sega CD stuff works fine, it's only the CD 32X not loading. I tried different rips of the game, converting to chd format. This was all over a year ago. Maybe changing the bios might work.

hello. did you put the renamed bios in the path retroarch/system/ ? The path may change depending on the retroarch you have downloaded. you tell me that Mega CD does work, maybe I have them installed correctly. Are you using wiiflow to launch the games?

Wait a minute... you're using Retroarch's picodrive core, right? in genesis plus gx 32x cd does not work. You need to have retroarch picodrive, I recommend the hexaeco ss. check that out https://gbatemp.net/threads/retroarch-hexaeco-emulators.600834/post-10175069 there you have the explanations and that version of the cipodrive hexaeco retroarch. remember to put the mega cd bios renamed to bios_CD_E, bios_CD_J and bios_CD_U in retroarch/system path

Nice TV and setup. I haven't tried wiiflow, I use the official retroarch picodrive core, and I renamed the bios and placed it in the system folder. CD 32X doesn't work for me even though I installed it properly.

I will try Hexaco-SS and hope that works.
Thanks!

Which Hexaeco emulator cores are you trying to install?

Yes, many Hexaeco cores require additional arguments to work properly through WFL.

If you download the latest WFL plugins pack, all Hexaeco plugins are properly setup to run with correct cfg.ini arguments.

Thanks, I forgot to edit my comment saying that I had solved the problem and that it was by adding an extra command in the .ini file. great emulators!!
Hi, I've been looking for Hexaeco inis on the compilation but no luck so far.
Could anyone post the ini so I can check what commands work with wiiflow?

Basically you can make your own argument cfg path but the line must contain this...

arguments={device}:/{path}/|{name}|{device}:/

...add your cfg path to the end of that^^^^^^ existing argument

Wow, it's been 3 years since I updated all the emulators on my Wii and came across these!

I have a few questions @RunningSnakes that I hope you could answer for me please.
1. Have there been significant improvements since then?
2. Is it now a mixture of HEXAECO and official RetroArch cores now in the pack?
3. Are they still standalone emulators for each system?
4. If I want to update to these new versions, what is the process? I currently have old versions of your TG16, FBA, CPS1,CPS2, and Neo Geo VM HEXAECO cores. I think I also have the full HEXAECO build of RetroArch from that time aswell. All are using your forwarders too.
5. Can I save paths and resolutions for each independently? This was my main reason for using them in 2021.

Thanks for continuing to work on these, it's much appreciated!

1. Not really. Forwarder channels got updates but cannot think of any major improvements to the Hexaeco emulators since then.

2. No. Hexaeco is still separate from vanilla RA. Hex does have a few new inclusions and vanilla RA (Frankenstein) is needed for other systems Hex doesn't offer. Both are fantastic imo.

3. Yes

4. Drag, Drop, Replace. I believe everything still uses their same cfg.

5. Yes. This is what makes Hexaeco special. Give FBNEO a chance, it really covers all bases CPS1-CPS2 original Hexaeco cores had trouble with. Included in the download is a compatibility list i put together that is pretty 99.9% complete. If the game isn't on the list, do not waste your time testing.

No problem my friend. Hope you and everyone else enjoy the overlay/bezel pack(s) i put together. I think they are icing on the cake for Hexaeco!!

Thanks for answering all my questions @RunningSnakes, I am a bit rusty with the Wii modding having not done anything with it the last couple of years. I've downloaded all of your files from Mediafire and will make some updates to my setup in the coming days :)

Is there a standalone Picodrive emulator? I see 32x emulation on Wii has improved, so I'd like to look into adding that system.

Yes, @SaulFabre updated the Pico core for vanilla RA fixing audio issues and adding working save states. This is a recompile of an older Pico core version so unfortunately it will conflict with vanilla RA if it is installed also.

I thought about creating standalone setup and forwarder channel for Hexaeco Pico which can be done, but saving and a few other minor issues cripple the experience somewhat. If end users are ok with no save states or a simple game reboot if games are not full speed on 1st boot, 32X on Hexaeco is still 100% playable.

@AdamCatalyst did create a setup for this i think in this thread or another similar thread. I did install it but the mentioned speed issue still existed for me. I could definitely put a channel together and create a setup as well, if that is something you and others would be interested in.
