Hacking Retroarc Psx core memory card

Finally got to getting to play ff8 on retro but when I try to save it says there no memory card?
Any one encounter this or know a fix?
I can save in ff7 but ff8 says no memory card.

Unless it got updated doesn't ark not have any sound?

Try ark if game saves data (try save game in ark)
