Hi everybody is there any way to play actual burned store bought dvds on the Wii? I popped in Angel Season 1 original DVD and loaded up MplayerWiiDVDLIB edition and all I get is a code dump when I select the play dvd option. Could I please get some help here on what program I should use or what to do? Thanks so much!!

If you mean can you play retail DVD movies then yes. I've only encountered two that wont run it. I haven't tried this in a while though, I was using the one that was released along side dvdx, so this may not be how things are right now.

Here is the problem. I can run ripped .avi xvid or divx or anything with mplayerdvdlib installed and dvdx installed my choosing play dvd then selecting the avi file. However, when I try to run a retail dvd it asks you to select the folder the same as when you run a dvd with ripped movies or things like that on it then it gets to the main folder with the .ifo, .idx .vob folders in it - after selecting a few that give you an error and dont do anything I select the vob for the main loader that should load it then it gives a code dump - this happens on every retail dvd.

You're using the wrong program. Use this one that released alongside DVDx!

I use this occasionally but I just got give a slim PS2 so I just use that now.

Also, you can play retail and copied DVD's on this app. Just when you start a DVD, give it a few seconds to start... =]

Then you're all ready!

Thanks for the app - I'm not sure what I'm missing or what is wrong but when I load this up in HBC 1.01 it sits on the looping Mplayer dvdlib edition video screen and wont do anything - and yes, my dvd is in the drive. Help please?

Now I have a different problem - when I choose dvdlib so I can actually get to the menu selection screen I can't use the wiimote or anything else including gamecube controller to select anything......does anybody know what I have to do to get this to work? Right now the only way to get anything to play is to select the normal play dvd mode and play each title manually - not knowing what I'm really selecting.....

I figured it out but it's really stupid. You have to hold the 2 button on the wiimote and WHILE you are holding the 2 button use the direction arrows to move it then select with with A. And with the gamecube controller hold Y and the same applies. I wonder why this is necessary. Oh well, at least now I've got a fully functioning Wii Dvd Player. Thanks guys.

You're welcome!

I sometimes just choose play vob 0 or vob 1 just to skip the DVD Menu! It may work for you so you don't have to fiddle with the menu!

You're welcome!

@SylverReZ, atleast wiimmfii went fine although people only use it for Mario kart Wii

At least if they ban you for cheating, get another Wii. They're cheap as chips.

Remember when RiiShop was a thing?

    not really
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It got shutdown because somebody "accidentally" leaked the database for the amount of people using the beta.

RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced

    Brb
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
ngl i feel like if a bunch of my friends have wiis and know how to get wiimmfi and back up their NAND, then we could do a PMEX Remix tournament
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
maybe even add UMVC3/DBFZ and make it a biathlon/triathlon
