Homebrew [Request] Texting Application

If you don't have a 3DS to test it, the best thing to do is write platform independent code and once you're finished with the core you just write the interface for the 3DS

So write a program for PC first? Then port it? I'm kinda a newb to this, you might have to tone it down a little

Essentially what you do is write code that could be shared. Or even better, write a platform independent library that could be reused in multiple applications.

No, C/C++ would be the best choices. But you could use other languages that are supported by LLVM, but that would only complicate things

You could also use Lua.

Would it be possible to create an application that connects a texting server. For example: The "Text Free" servers. If that part would be possible, could it go further and create a gui interface? This is all just an idea, and keep in mind that I really have no consensus of how these kind of things work. I'd love to help, although I am generally ignorant in coding and such. Any help and responses are greatly appreciated. Have a good one.

It is. The people that were supposed to work on it with me just disappeared from the IRC channel, so I assumed they gave up on the project. If you're interested in making an instant messenger, I'd be happy to try working on the Telegram one. I'm still a beginner, so if you think it's best to work on it yourself or with other experienced programmers, say the word and I'll back off.

I can't test on my 3DS and i've never used C before but if i take a course tonight i don't see it being that hard. So sure why not! This could turn out to be really cool!
