Got some scratches on the bottom screen of my Old 3DS XL and I'm looking to replace it.
In the second image is a replacement I found, is it the right part I should be buying?
I know the bottom screen is composed of multiple parts so I want to make sure I'm buying the right one for mine.

Solution
The second image shows a touchscreen (touch panel).
This is the scratched part while the LCD underneath should be fine.

I can't say from the depths of my defective brain if it is the correct one (for O3DSXL), but generally touch panel is the part you want.

A few words of warning:
  • DS are finicky. Take your time and make sure not to damage any cables or connectors
    • If certain things aren't connected (correctly) it won't even turn on
  • You most likely *will* get dust particles in between LCD and new touchscreen
    • Common advise such as "turn on hot shower and swap screen in bathroom afterwards" don't sound sensible. This does get rid of any dust... but adds a lot of moisture in a room unsuitable for working with...

Good luck!

Got it, thank you very much! I was planning on disassembling the 3DS myself to replace the touch panel and the circle pad, but I don't have much experience messing with electronics like this so I'll probably search for someone that does.

Of course you'll want to get a screen protector after you replace the digitizer.

I keep hoping that one day I'll stumble upon a flawless means to apply a screen protector without bubbles. Hasn't happened yet.
