I have Calibre, and installed the add-in that removes drm from epubs.

I rented a book from local library, which is supposed to remove itself from your device after so many days.
I ran it thru Calibre, and converted to mobi so I can put it on my Kindle.

Will it still disappear after so many days?

It should work. Nevertheless keep a copy on your computer in case Kindle acts up you can upload it once again. I would though use a better eReader which is not DRM infested and that reads real ePubs correctly without needing hack-formats. I certainly do and never had any troubles with DRM for bought stuff. Kindle is a pain... with no gain :P

Compared to a friends Sony eReader, I'd rather have the Kindle. Around 1000 books on it, working my way through them a book a week :)

Should be OK. I like Kindle as well, much better support and big user base. Other companies arn't as generous as Amazon when it comes to warrenties and what not.

The 1000 books wasn#t an arguement, just a statement.

I've tried a few other readers and they don't feel as quick, or user friendly
