You hadn't installed any GW a9lh exploit either so that argument isn't in favor of GW (neither is it for traditional)I know, but I haven't installed any traditional al9h exploits before.
Even in that case, the traditional a9lh is better. Because right now, your nephew can boot with L held down, get to the GW menu, press B+A to boot to sysNAND then update (and actually, with a traditional a9lh and another CFW than GW, updating sysNAND wouldn't even be a problem). Or even without pressing B+A (since that's not a visible option), he can do annoying stuff such as formatting emuNAND or whatever, just because he held L down by chance when booting.I also don't need it cause it's just to play my games using the gateway and prevent my nephew from accidentally updating sysNAND.
With a traditional a9lh, you would have been able to block the L key. For example, my setup is that arm9loaderhay (a boot manager with multi key and password support) boots Luma by default, boots a shutdown payload when L is held down (so no one can get to sysNAND) and boots CtrBootManager9 when A+B is down and when ABXY is inputted as password. And from there only you can choose Luma or Gateway (and other things) and hold L to get to sysNAND. Remove Luma to that setup and you have your Gateway setup where your nephew will really never be able to update sysNAND nor do anything harmful from the Gateway menu.
edit for the ones who like to coin words out of my mouth, I am not saying "ditch Gateway", just "use Gateway if you want but the traditional a9lh is better".
