Ok so I've had this question for awhile... I've been wanting to make some homebrew or something to make emuNAND without the gateway launcher (I'm trying to get it out of the scene as much as possible) anyways I wanted to see what exactly they did, I opened it in a hex editor and figured out everything pretty quick comparing it with a NAND backup and a backup of the fat32 partition on the card (the non encrypted space where your files go) however there's a large section between the emuNAND partition and the fat32 partition that has a bunch of seemingly random data in it... Was this just something that didn't get zeroed when data was stored there or is this something else that might be important? I'm hoping @Steveice10 @mid-kid (when he gets back) or someone else can answer my question

Have Anyone a Link to a firmware.bin?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

This one is not a big deal but when it boots the top screen display is weird.

How do you Get it Working?
It loads but then it Says a Error With firmware.bin and firmkey.bin

@Phil5004 I was also not able to start CakesFW on my n3DS.
Think the firmware.bin is still the wrong one for me (Black screen).

You get the message that the firmware.bin is wrong... so search for another :)

It's padded to the nand size as I understand it.

Yeah but the size of my NAND plus gateways fake header (they use a fake and then keep the real one later) is just a little bigger than my NAND (which is correct as there are two headers) but after that and before the fat32 partition there are several megabytes worth of seemingly random data... There's no strings or anything, I'm wondering if it's just that gateway launcher didn't erase that part of the of the card when they wrote the emuNAND to the card so whatever was on the card before in that location stayed because the card wasn't zeroed to start

Have anyone a Firmware.bin and a Firmkey.bin or Know where I can get it? (You can PN me too)
You don't need firmkey.bin, grab the cetk from the link in the OP and put it into the cakes folder on your SD card, when you boot cakes it'll make the firmkey.bin for you as for firmware you're on your own to find it... I found it on the cakes fw thread on "that ISO site"

I have a old 3ds at 9.9 and want to buy a new 3ds at 9.0

I believe this has been covered by @Ronhero (I may be wrong though) but I do believe it is possible

I just managed to install a cia manager in my n3ds without CN/gateway thanks to @Steveice10 :yaysp:

You need :
- A 9.0-9.2 console obviously
- Browserhax : https://gbatemp.net/threads/yellows8s-browserhax-thread.398132/
- Cakes for ninjhax2 : https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-cakesfw.391200/page-62#post-5695644
- Cakes 9.9 (first post) with an encrypted 9.0-9.2 firmware.bin : can't link it here, but search "firmware9.2.bin" on google on download the Cakes.zip folder. The md5 of the firmware9.2.bin should be 87aea2e8c30a533fd9f319683b3a0793. Rename it firmware.bin and put it in the cakes folder along with the cetk file.
- The latest ninjhax version of FBI : https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-fbi-open-source-cia-installer.386433/
- A cia version of the cia installer you want to install (for exemple FBI or BigBlueMenu)

Once you have all of that :
1. Start the HBL
2. Choose Cakes
3. In select Patches, choose "Disable signature checks" but don't choose emunand.
4. Boot the cfw.
5. Run the browserhax again, but now choose FBI.
6. Install the cia manager. If you get a database error, read the FBI faq in the official thread.

Then you will have a cia installer installed on the sysnand. You will still need CN or OOT to create an emunand though.

Edit : It works with a CN cia + the gw launcher.

I'm going to work on creating an emuNAND with a homebrew soon :yaynds:
