ROM Hack [Release] 3DS_CTR_Decryptor-VOiD

I think I may have a problem here.

I'm trying to make an XORPAD of Sonic Lost World, because RTB from The VG Resource really wants to get the models from that game. I made an ncchinfo.bin file out of the ROM, then copied said file (and the Gateway Launcher.dat) onto my SD card. Once I went to DS Profile, the decryptor interface appeared, but it's been stuck at the "Reading info..." part for more than ten minutes now.

Did I do something wrong, or is it supposed to take an extremely long time?

When it sits at that text(it should move on in less than a second), just turn your 3DS off and try again. Sometimes it takes me many tries to get it to work.

for those who are able to build 3ds roms:

I am extracting and decrypting roms (Harvest moon) and i am repacking them with makerom. If I repack them it goes fine without any errors and my gateway also shows the banner, icon and plays the sound. But when I start the game it freezes at the 3ds intro screen.

check your romfs with ctrtool and see if its failing on the romfs hash checks.....that's where I'm stumped right now, i know how the hashes are made up and they are all "correct", as far as my understanding of it goes, but I'm assuming I'm missing something as editing any files even by 1 byte causes the hash to fail.......even if the area you edit is not inside the hashed area

Being completely retarded on this subject, I must ask: With the tools given here, can I edit the encounter slots in a download copy of X or Y so that something like Hoopa or Arceus will appear on Route 2?

well kinda, but there no sharing of the exact method just people saying they have it done, so all the tools are there but you will still have a bit of work to do to actually get it working

I see, thanks. I'll probably just wind up waiting for a tutorial to appear, I can't make heads or tails of this stuff. :'D

Well i left the romfs0 intact, so i assume its good, but i didnt include romfs1 and 7 ( manual and updates) so i think that could cause the problem.

Does anybody know how to include more romfs in 1 rom?

ahhh okay your going the 0000 key methods, im hoping to just re-xor if i can, but cant make any edits :(
 
Well I've got the furthest yet in my attempts to build a rom....
It doesn't freeze on the blackscreen immediately after opening the rom,
It doesn't freeze on the 3ds logo,
It freezes on the blackscreen after the 3ds logo :lol:

I still think I'm having rsf issues. I still get this makerom error even when the savesize is one that it says:

[CCI ERROR] 'CardDevice: NorFlash' can only be used with save-data sizes: 128K & 512K

Edit: more progress. So I've got two different things to sort out.
1) The blackscreen after the 3ds logo was with a modified romfs, I got past it with the original romfs, so I'm gonna be faced with the same header hash issue monseur gamesquest has been battling.

2) The makerom error above. I'm a bit stuck if I can't have a savefile. If I change it from NorFlash to None, the rom builds, and starts without crashing, but gives an unsurprising error about not being able to create save data. Can anyone help me get past this problem with makerom?
 
So I've successfully unpacked and edited some files in Pokemon X. Does anyone know about repacking the GARC files after editing them? Or can I rebuild the romfs without repacking? Kaphotics tools seem to have the ability according to the github, but I have yet it make it work.


repack requires you to compile the new exe and just drag&drop a folder and it will pack up all the contents. You first have to compress all the files and make sure they're in the right order.

I'll eventually come out with a more standard way of doing it (which will do the compression and ordering for you) later this week.

im glad and not glad at the same time for no easy guides or automated tools popping up i have finally figured out how a lot of stuff work that i never really got around to learning....still not got it all figured out though :rofl2:

btw i no have any lucky left on hand to make repacking rom is working -__-

since pokemon gen 6 format is similar with gen 5, maybe my tool will support gen 6 too ... (on evolution editor , moveset editor, other) . but thank you kaphotics for garc unpacker, and some note on pastebin site.

I might be able to help you as I'm pretty good with c#. PM me if you want any help.

Also I extracted pokemon rumble blast just to mess around with it a bit and found some files with .bcres.cx extension. I think they're models, does anybody know how I would open these?
