It's days like this that make me wish i owned a PSVita. I said it once, so Ill say it again: If you didn't already have DevMenu before today or your only interest in Devmenu is one of the following:

1. FREE WAREZ!
2. Flashcards are holding us back!
3. FREE FREE GIMME GIMME

... then you probably shouldn't have it in the first place.

Well before this shit fest happened i was halfway through dumping payload 2 from GW 1.0.
I needed to get devmenu to help with research over at PPorg, so i think I my cause is just enough..
On the bright side, i have tons of knowledge of how GW works, but i still feel cheated in a way.. i spent most of my free time on this, but oh well. I'll try to use this knowledge to make it better, but honestly, the way this scene works, i'll be half way through installing devmenu on 9.x when some drama seeker leaks code for that too..

Sorry, let me reiterate. Shit happens, it was bound to happen sooner or later. As long as we don't have to rely on flashcards anymore, that to me, is a step in the right direction even if it's still limited to 4.5 for the time being...I guess that's what I was trying to say. Free soft mods are better in my opinion

100% agree. Been waiting for something like this, which will destroy all rice made DRM flashcards out the water sooner or later.

3ds scene is built on stealing. Only now is it something from the "chosen few" is it bad.

Gateway release exploit in a nice convenient package.
Gets decrypted and ends up being the basis for a lot of stuff. As it's Gateway the work was taken from, this is fine?
Clones come out, again apparently fine, competition is good.
New encryption comes out, devs claim Gateway is fucked. Gateway proves wrong, gets the keys.
Gateway decrypted again, keys stolen. Fine again.
Devs have stuff stolen, not fine

Honestly they probably did get at least some info from 3dbrew. IIRC the exploit was indirectly documented on 3dbrew for a while before Gateway came out.

I've just started reading this thread. Is this not good? I've got a very bad feeling that this is going to hit Gateway hard and in turn affect GW users. I really hope this leak is not going to cause GW to go and leave us. I feel really bad for Gateway! What does this actually do?

It does what it says it does, installs custom firmware, working similarly to the GW for 4.5 users, at least, so it seems. Sorry, but it's about damn time people get this for free. It's okay to buy an 80 dollar card and download ROMs, but somehow immoral to do the same thing for free?

i actually think this makes sense cause if the code is shared someone might, um i dont know, solve the flash cart fw issue that limits us to only <4.5 3ds fw.
And maybe even make playing roms a free thing so there will be no need to hunt down legit retailers for a highly illegal flash cart, which i for one would love cause 1. it saves me £, 2 it stops me getting arrested for possession of copyrighted materials 3. makes 3ds homebrew channel/s a future reality.
