Hacking Regular 2ds or New 2ds XL?

Was looking into buying a 2DS system today. Which version would be easier to get CFW for?

2ds xl as it is overall a better and upgraded DS.

Regular if it comes with 11.3 or below. The New one always comes with 11.4 or higher and those are a bit more work and you need to purchase a ~2$ game from eShop. (or a ~10$ flashcard for a very easy method)
New has (in addition to the obvious) the benefits of being able to run games faster and stream them to PC.

It's easier to NTRBoot on an old 2DS as they don't need the magnet, although I'd recommend the new 2DS if you want the faster clock speeds for things like emulators. However, I have heard that the XL feels like "the chinese rip-off of a 3DS" while I can say from experience that the 2DS feels good in your hands, so really there's pros and cons to each.

either one that is cheaper if you don't care about Xenoblade and SNES VC.. personally i'd go for the 2DS XL.. might as well invest in an ntrboot ready flashcard too to make life easier..

Go for the 2DSXL, all the horsepower of a New3DS and even an easier microSD slot.
Also all versions of the 3DS are hacked the same way, so there's really no system that is easier or harder then the other to hack.

He wanted to know which was easier to mod not which is the better system - that would be the 2DS. It can come on 11.3 (so may be able to use SoundHax), and you don't need a magnet, if it is on 11.4 or higher and you use ntrboot.

Just for the record, I recently bought a regular 2ds and it came with fw 11.6, so I wouldn't get your hopes up about 11.3.

Was it second-hand? I wouldn't expect a regular 2DS to be above 9.9 (the yokai watch one).

It was the blue Mario kart 2ds from walmart, it was brand new.

Bought the new 2DS XL last November and this thing ist just awesome!
My favourite DS, don't nee the "3D" stuff and I personally think this 2DS XL looks awesome and not cheap.
