Hacking Reformatting MicroSD

I recently bought a used DSTT from someone with a 2GB Kingston MicroSD included. I didn't have to reformat it and every game I put on it worked like a charm, and the DSTT menu was fast. Then my roms stopped working and I had to reformat the MicroSD.
I used the windows re-formatter and FAT32. The problem is, the DSTT is 3 times as slow now

Should I use another re-formatter, and which one would that be?

use google to find Panasonics SD formatter, it works like a dream and also cures freezing issues with some SD cards

its beacause you reformated it to fat32 fat 16 is faster and laggs less
