RECOMMEND ME MUSIC

where to begin...

Tool - early stuff is more hard rock than the new stuff but all of it is good
Baroness - very 70s sounding and very melodic
System of a Down - some of the later stuff fits, but msot doesn't really fit into what you listed
Oomph! - especially the Ego album - but its more rock/metal than anything

Have I mentioned how much I love rock, especially Hard Rock. But, not metal as much. Seriously OP; consider adding some Rock into your albums.

Not because I listed some of my favourite songs, means that i necesarilly need excusively that type of music.
All I'm asking for is good music, with good rythm, vibes, energy, you name it.
Just good music.

Now, I don't listen to much music. And by that I mean music made by bands or something like that. I mostly listen to videogame music.
But I've read you like jazz, so...

I'm into videogames music too.
Check out these: But I presume that you already know them.

Thanks, it will.
I didn't notices that thread before.

Now I feel a bit dumb making a thread about this.

May I ask why you don't like Pink Floyd?

Have you ever tried listening to Syd Barret's solo stuff?

Floyd spanned multiple decades, and usually people like at least one era.

I've always thought that they're a bit overrated. Just like The Beatles.
I'm not comparing them, at all, i just mean that they're not the kind of music that I like, I find it, quite slow and empty.

Hope I don't offend anyone with my words.

Oh I have so much music to recommend. You might have heard some of it though (oh, I'm bad with genres, so I'll write what I think it is):

But wait, there's more!/QUOTE]

HEH! THANK YOU! :grog:
Never heard them before, and this is the kind of music that I would normally listen to.

As soon as I saw the embedded videos for Glory Box and The Time Is Now my first thought was: "éste güey le sabe!" (This guy knows!)

Weee! Nekta, Belleruche y Moloko también están geniales.
Tome su like, buen hombre.

All the cover songs from A Perfect Circle's "Emotive" album sound right up your alley. conversely, try listening to A Perfect Circle, Tool, some Instrumental Acid Jazz artist I don't know he name of, Evans Blue, maybe some Reverend Horton Heat or Cold, maybe a little Staind or if you're feeling dangerous, The Crimson Armada.

You're welcome :) I have something like 15-20.000 songs... at least! They're a bit spread out at the moment, so I don't know for sure. So I have a lot of recommendations more, sometime ;)

I won't try to change your opinions on Pink Floyd, and I also think some of their stuff is quite boring (maybe from not giving it a proper listen though). However, The last half of "The Dark Side of the Moon" is a masterpiece in my opinion.
(Money) - Us and Them - Any Colour You Like - Brain Damage - Eclipse  I think it's perfect. Money is very overplayed for me, so I don't like it that much, but from "Us and Them" and forward. (Oh, and the saxophone <3 It's my favourite track )

EDIT: Oh and for anyone interested in listening to the songs, find a full album stream, get the CD/LP or use spotify or something. The songs flow into each other ^_^

These days I tend to really enjoy well done Mashups that blend various artists into a cohesive yet very different sort of music.

Here's an excellent example by one of my favorite artists, DJ FAROFF.

Something else I love is when someone takes the time to listen to familiar tones, discard words entirely, and blend these sounds into song.
POGO Is an excellent example of this.

Yes yes, you're right.
I haven't had the time to just sit, and listen all their songs.
I sometimes feel they're a bit boring, or it may be that I just can't get their music.
So, yes, I'm gonna do that, just sit, and listen their full album, anytime... soon. But I will.

And finally, I highly respect artists who take the time to not just make a song, but to craft a story (as Pink Floyd often did in their middle years, under Roger Waters)

The best example I have of this in more recent years is probably Florence + The Machine.

Before you completely discard Pink Floyd, I would like to ask if you've listened to either Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall from beginning to end.
I can agree and understand that certain songs were overhyped and overplayed, but when taken as a whole, these albums are tenfold greater than the songs that are constantly repeated on the radio.

Let me give you a song that is never played on the radio as an example.

I'm tried to give this a chance but still yuck for me on Pink Floyd. Never found that shimmer that everyone else sees.

This is an excellent premise for a thread, and whether you like what I've shared or you don't, I'm glad to be able to participate in it.

*shrug* Okay. It's not right for everybody. I could go into my history with the band such as DSotM being my lullaby when I was a child, but that hardly matters to you.
So thank you for giving it a chance. :vul1:

A list of my recommended songs would be remiss were I not to include one of Maynard's bands. (TOOL, A Perfect Circle, or Puscifer)

While I'd obviously love to recommend some good future funk/chill/vaporwave, people already did that plus it seems that no one believes it's real music. Oh well.

As for my recommendations, here's some stuff I've been listening to lately:

The heavy hitters:

More background kinda stuff:

Of this list, I specifically recommend Car Seat Headrest. It's an amazing revival of indie rock, which I thought was as good as dead.

And for the more (less?) niche stuff, specifically if you like hip-hop at all:

I hope you actually listen to some of this stuff
