the rebug team (the team that develops the rebug custom firmware for ps3) just updated their website with news about releasing all their tools as open source from now on...
they want to attract more developers

at first while reading i thought it was a goodbye letter... but hopefully this just means the ps3 scene needed a little refresh/shaking; as a recent owner of ps3, (and since the ps4 doesn't support ps3 games lots of people kept their previous console) i hope the ps3 scene will still last years

read it all here:

what is gbatemper's opinion about the ps3 scene?

Pretty awesome! I am still thinking about downgrading and getting Rebug CFW for PS3 myself, and it's always nice to also see how the hacks are made! :D

if you are on cfw you don't need to downgrade... you can update directly to rebug since its based on last firmware, when i purchased my ps3 it had ferox cfw, i directly updated to rebug

Oh, I meant OFW. ^^'
I'm on 4.78 at the moment and I have a CECHK03 PS3 (unmodified; I may be purchasing an E3 sometime soon)
the disadvantage of getting a console pre-hacked is not learning how to do it :(
