The NRO just raises an error and allows you to reboot to the payload at atmosphere\reboot_payload.bin

You can replace the payload mentioned with any payload you want, just rename it to "reboot_payload.bin"

Yo BRO!! you saved my ass man!! thanks!

So, I replaced reboot_payload.bin with the payload of my choice, but for some reason the console reboots to Hekate (which is not the payload I used)

https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/releases

Depending upon which version you have it will be named something like this:
atmosphere-1.2.5-master-1019bc54e+hbl-2.4.1+hbmenu-3.5.0.zip

/atmosphere/reboot_payload.bin

Make sure you have updater2p=0 in your hekate_ipl.ini.

From Hekate docs:

“updater2p=0 0: Disable, 1: Force updates (if needed) the reboot2payload binary to be hekate.”
