Hacking Question Re-mod a banned switch - something not right

So, I bought a previously modded and banned switch - it works fine (except it is banned of course) it has also been factory reset and now has latest firmware.

I have successfully used a hard mod (using the plastic paperclip thingy in the right joycon slot and I can get it to load a payload, sometimes... sometimes it just gives errors. Using latest atmosphere and SDCARDSETUP.

I have tried to install my breath of the wild game and it just wont work. I have had goldleaf just downright fail and blackscreen, and I have had it say its installed but then the game doesnt run (error - you need to download from to eshop to run).

Do I have to remove any previous modded files first? Thinking that the person before me installed stuff that I might need to remove first somehow?
It is all on sysnand. Installing game to SD card.

Maybe try a different installer, Tinfoil e.g. I don't know how up-to-date Goldleaf is, the last update was a few months ago.

Since it's been factory reset, I would start from scratch.

Make sure the first thing you do, after you got Hekate running, is a full Nand backup. This way, if you screw up along the way, you can always come back to square one easily.

Edit: I browsed the guide quickly and I'm not sure if it covers sigpatches. They are essential to run backups on Atmosphere. Anyway, they can be found here.

You need patches to launch backups which you can find on the pinned thread on this forum. I also recommend using TinWoo Installer instead of Goldleaf.
