I was a bit skeptical of this game because of how Rayman DS ended up (ugh), but I bought it alongside Super Street Fighter IV 3D earlier when I went to midnight launch in UK.

...Bloody hell.

All I can say is the 3D in Rayman is amazing. And the game is great. Seriously. If you liked Rayman 2, you will love this.
Once again, I am so relieved. I bought it on Tuesday (3DS doesn't come out until Sunday), and opened it because of hype. I then thought I made a big mistake because I started seeing everyone saying it was a terrible port (Which doesn't surprise me because it's Ubisoft...).
Why do you think Ubisoft would have made a bad port?
Play the DS port and ask that question to yourself

Do not remember for sure, but I though it was not directly made by them or something.

I have it and I really like the way it uses the 3d like when you open up the ingame menu there are little blue balls which raelly like flies out of the screen like 10 cm or something!

This is a very good port of what I have played so far, forget the other DS version, that didn’t have the controls required to play it and the screen res was far to low to look anything other than crappy. This has excellent controls, the graphics are crisp and 3D effect is exceptionally good. I don’t care if the game is 10 years old, it was a good game, you don’t hear people complaining about Ocarina of time being ported and that’s been released and re-released more times than this game.

If you liked the game and you want to play it again then I whole heartily recommend this version.

The DS version was developed by DC Studios. Ubisoft had no part in it besides the publishing. It's a horrid port.

From what i've heard though, Splinter Cell 3D is considered by some critics and gamers as a bad port of Chaos Theory, so i suspect Ubisoft is indeed capable of bad ports.

From my time with (say about 40 minutes) Rayman 3DS is pretty damn lousy, I went in ignoring all of the bad reviews and I ended up agreeing with all. 3D is pretty bad, sound was below par and lookswise, this seems more like an upgraded port of the N64 version than the Dreamcast. Controls aren't as tight as before.

Shortly after I fired the DC version just to see if the game was still any good and it was and playing that just showed how bad the messed the 3D implementation up on this port.

Even the DS version is better than this and that was bad but at least the sound was slightly better on that. I really doubt they spent much time on the 3DS port, it was like Ubisoft thought "hey there are no platformers announced near the launch, lets shit a Rayman 2 port out!".

My neighbour (who owned this copy) reckons its ok but he's someone who thinks every CoD is the best game ever.

Pretty much agree with all that.

I bought Rayman 3D and i say that i don't regret it, its a great game to begin with, 3d is beautifull. 3d Works well with a platformer where you have to jump on narrow objects (added depht)

Now before I say anything about this particular version of Rayman 2 I want to say the following: I`ve already played several versions of this game but the only version actually finished (twice

) was the DC-version. I think it is a phenomenal game and imo one of the best 3D-plattformers ever.

I`ve got to play the 3D-version for approx. 5 minutes and I have to say it was pretty bad. First of all I think the 3D is pretty good in this game. There was good depth and also the little particles and butterflies that fly in your face are really well made. The graphics are also OK-ish but the 3DS is obviously capable of way more.

Now to the bad parts: The music is pretty badly brought to the 3DS. Also the framerate is horrendous (with 3D enabled of course). For me with that kind of framerate the game is unplayable. And at last it somehow didn`t feel very well made. On my DC Raymans movement and how he reacts to borders and ledges and such is way more accurate and just feels better somehow.

So as usual a pretty badly done port of a classic. SEGA and Ubi should just let their classics rest if they cannot port them over faithfully

Weird, the framerate seems perfectly fine when I play it, even with 3D enabled.

Whaaaat? How is the 3D implementation messed up? Out of curiosity, which other 3D games have you played? There could be a chance you weren't looking at it from the right angle, when I look at it, it plays perfectly and the 3D effect is gorgeous, the depth is amazing and when the butterflies pop out of the screen for the first time in the Meadow bit, I was stunned. How on earth is the DS version better?

- No analogue controls
- Resolution was awful, made the game nearly unplayable
- Horrible sound

3DS version

- Analogue controls
- 3D effects
- Great resolution
- Improved sound quality (I really think your ears are messed up if you think the DS version's sound is better than the 3DS' version).

I'm not just arguing for the sake of arguing but I genuinely cannot understand why someone would say the DS version is better.
