Thanks for replying. Yes, I hope it has improved by now, because I want original speed without frame rate drops. Do you per chance know if the pi 4 is flawless in that regard?Depends on the title you're want to play, I've played Tony Hawk 2 with an almost 60 fps. But if you try Bloody Roar you might end up in the 30ish fps. I used RetroPie for the most part.
It's been a while since I used my raspberry pi with RetroPie because of Blast16 (it's a Sega master system/ mega drive and CD/gamegear/and 32X frontend) it's likely that there have been a lot of updates. So maybe everything works flawless now![]()
Thank you for the response!I've had reasonably good results with PCSX-ReARMed on Pi 4, or even Pi 3. Latest releases of Lakka were on 64-bit architecture, and suddenly even the Pi 4 is struggling in the PSX emulation department. If you have a decent enough PC, I would use DuckStation on it. You can push the resolution quite a bit, and no fps drops at all. It's a very good emulator. It's available for the Pi too, but the machine is just not powerful enough to do a decent job.
Yes, PCSX-ReARMed will do a fine job on your Pi 3. You can even double the resolution, with no consequences. Just make sure you run a 32 bit architecture, and you'll be fine. I'm not sure if Retropie has switched to 64 bit yet. Maybe not. I know Lakka did, so avoid that, I guess.Thank you for the response!
So I guess PCSX-ReARMed is worth a shot with the Pi 3?
The thing is, I want to build a cheap setup for a special location I don't use very often. I want a lightweight solution that does not cost very much. I know the Pi 3 can handle SNES, GBA, Genesis fine, but PSX might be a bit to ambitious. What I gather from your response is that even a Pi4 doesnt necesseraly do the trick.
I agree, on a decent system duckstation is great.
Nice? Why do they switch then? Is there something wrong with PCSX-ReARMed 32 bit?Yes, PCSX-ReARMed will do a fine job on your Pi 3. You can even double the resolution, with no consequences. PCSX-ReARMed works fine on 32-bit. But from what I remember, it didn't play nicely on 64-bit. (I'm not even sure if it was installed by default on latest Lakka) All the other PSX emus (there are a few) didn't perform well on 64-bit. That's why I suggest sticking to the proven 32-bit releases of Retropie (or Lakka). As for the other emulators for other consoles, they might work better on 64-bit. But the differences would be marginal at best.Nice? Why do they switch then? Is there something wrong with PCSX-ReARMed 32 bit?
Thank you very much. Now I know that I can get the desired result by either going for retropie or lakka 32-bit.PCSX-ReARMed works fine on 32-bit.
