Hi Guys,

So, for about a week now I'm experiencing issues with my Switch OLED, modded with picofly.

MemTest fails each and every attempt on first phase i.e. stuck address.

I think I eliminated software issues, as I restored my NAND to the original I took right after purchase (half a year ago), and the same issue persists.

System is otherwise stable, I haven't experienced any crashes or hangups in games , regardless if the system is OC'd or not.
I expect though it's only a matter of time before the situation worsens.

My question, other than the obvious suspect, is there anything else that might be causing this? Is there something I can troubleshoot it and pinpoint the exact reason?

your switch is fine. Yes there's some faulty ram, but it's literally like 6 pages and the system recognizes it as faulty and doesn't use it most of the time. The problem also isn't going to get worse over time, that's just not something that happens with this type of issue. Preventative maintenance isn't needed, so don't waste your time/money/console on it.

As long as it doesn't affect normal game play you can continue using it.
But when it start failing with normal game play, just take it to a good repair shop for an inspection.
Maybe when your Switch was modded, it wasn't cleaned properly (the best case scenario).
In the worst case scenario, one of the ram chips might have come loose a bit and it needs to be seated again.
If you can't find a repair shop in your neighborhood that can do such repair, then look for a mail-in service.
Just reach out on the forum and mention the country you're living in.

Thank you for the input!

I don't want to jump on the gun with it, since everything else is working as expected. Can I ask what you meant by "like 6 pages" though?

Test results I've posted are one of many, sometimes it fails at 1/4, 2/4 etc. There's no pattern, other than that the test fails.

I'll observe and see if the situation worsens, but hopefully it won't (or at least not in the practical realm).

Appreciate your response, seems I've got some reputable repair shops in my vicinity by doing quick search, so if it the situation's going to affect normal usage I'll go and seek help.

no. This is not at all a type of failure that you would get from a short or by something failing open. If you don't know anything about what you're talking about, just don't say anything at all.

it means that the amount of failing ram is really small. The ram not failing at a consistent point is because it has an intermittent fault, so it fails some times and works other times, but it fails enough of the time that the test fails eventually.

Thank you both for your replies. Few days passed, while I was grinding my unit hard and outside of the memtest failing, I haven't noticed anything disruptive. I'll happily continue to use the console as intended (i.e. games) and if situation changes I'll seek your expertise.

Have a great 2025 by the way :)
